The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. We endeavor to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Technology is responsible all technology strategies and operations for the Center. This position directs and leads all functions of the IT department (including internal staff, contractors, and technology vendors) by evaluating, planning, and coordinating activities associated with technology, while ensuring a high level of performance for all technology systems and platforms.  This position serves as technology subject matter expert for all departments of the Center.

Requirements

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for development of strategic initiative and technology roadmap in partnership with the CFAO for all of the Center's technology solutions 
  • Conduct system audits of implemented technologies and emerging needs, make technology acquisition recommendations as necessary. 
  • Guide the selection, management, and support for internal software solutions. Recommend new products as needed. including, but is not limited to, learning and case management systems, NGB/Partner Portal, CRM, and other systems required to support the mission and Center operations. 
  • Partner with data team to ensure all Center software provide required data for accurate reporting 
  • Oversee data engineer (internal or contractor) to ensure proper internal data infrastructure and architecture design. 
  • Work with partners and internal team ensuring proper configuration of API’s. 
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance and management of IT hardware/equipment and software, manage and implement system upgrades and provide post-implementation support. 
  • Generate and maintain partnerships for vendor management and contract negotiations.  
  • Collaborating with Human Resources and other departments as needed, develop IT guidelines, policies, standards and procedures, and manage implementation process from initial planning, communication, execution, and ongoing maintenance and support.  
  • Develop information security policies and ensure the implementation of cyber security measures to protect the Center’s applications, information, and infrastructure 
  • Direct the planning, design, installation, and on-going administration of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), firewalls, unified communications, virtual environments, and private/public/hybrid clouds  
  • Participate in IT budget preparation and ongoing management of vendors and expenses. 
  • Manage and oversee IT team, providing guidance and feedback for efficient use of resources and to maintain continuity of systems support. 
  • In collaboration with CFAO, establish technology service levels, means of measuring, and processes to meet them Provide security leadership creating, embedding, and sustaining security measures within our technology, educating our people, and securing our processes. Incident response plans should be a part of this.  
  • Stay informed of new IT developments and trends in the industry and make recommendations to CFAO. 
  • Define priorities and schedules for systems administration management and all other tasks 
  • Other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Technology Manager/Director with specific expertise in: 
    • Software vendor selection and customization / product development   
    • Learning Managment Systems (preferred) 
    • Case Management Systems (preferred)  
    • Business continuity planning 
    • Microsoft 365 – Entra, Defender, Office, Teams, SharePoint 
    • Network Configuration 
    • Cyber security 
  • Strong Skills planning and executing technology deployments, including:
    • Ensuring definition of clear measurable business and technical acceptance
    • Ensuring organizational readiness for both IT and stake holder departments
    • Ensuring ongoing operational support after implementation
  • Build and oversee a talented motivated IT organization consisting of employees, contractors, and third-party vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Solutions Architect 
  • CISSP or other information security related qualification(s) 
  • Experience utilizing Agile-based software and project management methodologies
  • Developing and managing B2B API solutions to facilitate streamlined system and data access in a secure, reliable manner
  • Leverage industry standards such as ITIL or COBIT for ensuring governance of technology operations
  • Firm understanding of cloud-based infrastructure services

WORK REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Standard office equipment provided
  • Office environment in multi-story, dog-friendly building
  • Some night and weekend work hours
  • Some overnight travel required

WORK LOCATION – Denver, CO; HYBRID – primarily remote with onsite support as needed. 

This is a full-time, exempt position. The starting salary range for this position is $123,000 – 138,000/year and will be commensurate with background and experience.
