The Action Center is searching for a talented and enthusiastic Donor Relations Officer to join our dynamic and mission-driven company.
The Donor Relations Officer cultivates and maintains strong relationships with new, monthly, and mid-level donors throughout the year, and supports the Action Center’s annual giving campaigns, including Back-to-School, Colorado Gives,s and our spring fundraising event.
JOB DUTIES
New Donor Cultivation
•Represents the organization at community, corporate, and faith-based events and meetings to help attract new donors and educate the community about the Action Center’s work
•Collaborates cross-departmentally to convert In-Kind donors, community, and corporate donation drive participants and volunteers into financial donors
•Collaborates with the Development team, Board, and Committee members to identify new ways to attract donors for annual campaigns, especially Colorado Gives and the spring fundraising event
•Implements strategies to welcome and recognize new donors, including personalized emails and phone calls
Donor Stewardship
•Ensure data collection and recognition of In-Kind donors
•Implement strategies to engage and retain monthly donors, including personalized communications, recognition, phone calls, and special incentives
•Provide facility tours for new, monthly, and in-kind donors
•Ensure that data is kept updated in the CRM for new, monthly, and In-Kind donors
•Collaborate cross-departmentally to proactively support community donation drives
Special Events
•Serve as the primary coordinator of the Action Center’s annual spring fundraising event, working with an event planning consultant and managing key tasks such as booking the venue and other key event vendors
•Support the recruitment of new event sponsors
•Work in partnership with the Marketing Manager around communications to donors and the community for the annual spring fundraising event
•Support planning and executing of additional donor events, fundraisers, and community outreach throughout the year
Additional Responsibilities
• Contribute to social media posts, particularly at community events and shout-outs for in-kind or donation drives
• Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years’ experience in fundraising/nonprofit work with a proven ability to secure gifts and meet objectives.
•Basic knowledge of fundraising concepts, strong communicator, and collaborative team player.
•Ability to navigate donor relationships and work independently, initiating contact with prospects.
•Exceptional writing and speaking skills to motivate individuals to take action.
•Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to following through on commitments.
•Ability to inspire engagement in our mission and vision, with strong interpersonal skills.
•Adherence to high ethical standards and sensitivity to donor needs.
•Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain professionalism.
•Creative and innovative mindset with strong computer skills in Google, MS Office, and donor software (like DonorPerfect preferred).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Able to lift 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work involves the normal physical activity associated with an office environment. It may include setting up and taking down tables and displays, light lifting of equipment, conducting presentations, and participating in community committees with occasional night or weekend work and long days.
