Summary

We are seeking capable, self-directed people who can handle the building, the guests and the unexpected without needing supervision. All events will be during “off-hours” times, i.e. after 5pm on weeknights and/or during the weekend.

Description

The Posner Center hosts evening and weekend events that entail a mix of our own programming, external rentals, and events run by our member organizations.

The Posner Center is located at 1031 33rd Street, Denver, CO 80205 in the Curtis Park neighborhood.

We are seeking capable, self-directed people who can handle the building, the guests and the unexpected without needing supervision. All events will be during “off-hours” times, i.e. after 5pm on weeknights and/or during the weekend.

The Roster

We are building a roster of two to four Independent Contractors (“Contractors”) to produce these events on site. Each contractor runs the building for the length of an event, from set-up to lock-up.

1. Every few weeks, or more frequently if needed, the Posner staff sends the upcoming event schedule to the roster. The Events Production Independent Contractors will work with the Interim Building Director, or the Executive Director once hired, to train and coordinate for each event.

2. Contractors sign up for the events they want to work. When more than one person chooses to work an event, it will be assigned to the first Contractor to respond.

3. As we build this program, we hope trained Contractors will commit to at least two events a month.

4. After you have confirmed an event, we require at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel. We ask that you help us find a replacement from the roster, wherever possible.

Services

For each event, the Contractor is responsible for the following outcomes:

Building access and security

● Arrive 30 minutes before the event set up begins, unlock, disarm the alarm and do a walk-through

● Control access to the building for the length of the event

● After the last guest leaves, do a closing walk-through, secure all doors and windows, set the alarm, and confirm that event spaces are clear

Setup and breakdown

● Set up rooms to the layout the host requested

● Reset furniture and equipment to the standard configuration afterward

● Handle trash and basic cleanup (e.g., run the dishwasher) so the space is ready for the next business day

AV and technology

● Set up and troubleshoot projectors, screens, microphones, sound and Wi-Fi

● Support hybrid or Zoom events when the host has requested it

● Report any equipment problems or damage to the Interim Building Director

On-site point of contact

● Greet hosts and guests and act as Posner’s representative on site

● Make sure hosts and guests follow building policies, including occupancy limits, approved spaces, end times and noise

● Where alcohol is served, check that service follows Posner’s alcohol and insurance policy and the host’s agreement

● Respond to incidents and emergencies, contact emergency services if needed, and notify Posner staff

Post event

● Within 24 hours of each event, submit a short report covering attendance, any incidents or damage, and any issues to follow up on

Orientation

Before your first event, Posner provides a paid orientation of about 1 hour covering the building, alarm and access systems, AV and tech equipment, emergency procedures, and Posner’s event and rental policies. After that, you decide how to deliver the services above within those policies.
