Executive Director – HopeCycle
About HopeCycle – HopeCycle is 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the Denver and Front Range Community. We restore bicycles and provide them to children and people in need, expanding horizons, fostering community, and opening doors to hope and opportunity.
Position Overview
HopeCycle is seeking a full-time Executive Director. The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive and primary leader of HopeCycle, responsible for driving the mission of transforming donated bicycles into opportunities for children, families, and individuals in need. The ED provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and community-focused direction to ensure HopeCycle’s long-term sustainability and growth.
This role reports directly to the Board of Directors and oversees staff, volunteers, programs, fundraising, bike distribution efforts, and strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Direction
- Lead the development and execution of HopeCycle’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with mission, values, and community impact goals.
- Cultivate a collaborative, mission-driven culture centered on empowerment, integrity, and community engagement.
- Identify new opportunities for growth, partnerships, and long-term sustainability.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the bike shop and warehouse, including inventory oversight, refurbishing workflow, bike distribution, facilities management, and financial systems.
- Ensure nonprofit compliance, operational safety, and adherence to best practices across all programs.
- Implement and maintain organizational systems and processes that improve efficiency, quality, and accountability.
Program & Impact Development
- Lead the design, expansion, and evaluation of programs including bike donations, youth cycling
initiatives, community rides, education workshops, and international outreach when applicable. - Track program metrics and outcomes; prepare impact reports for donors, partners, and the Board.
Financial Stewardship & Fundraising
- Collaborate with the Board to develop and manage the annual budget.
- Grow and diversify revenue through grants, corporate partnerships, donor stewardship, sponsorships,
and fundraising events. - Ensure sound accounting practices and responsible financial oversight.
Community, Partnerships & Advocacy
- Strengthen and expand partnerships with schools, nonprofits, businesses, refugee organizations,
government agencies, and community groups. - Represent HopeCycle in public, serving as a positive ambassador and a trusted voice in conversations
around bicycle access, sustainability, and youth development. - Build community awareness through strategic communications and outreach.
Staff & Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, supervise, and support staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Foster a workplace culture centered on appreciation, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous
improvement. - Provide training opportunities and regular performance feedback.
Board Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison to the HopeCycle Board of Directors.
- Provide transparent, timely updates on finances, operations, programs, and strategic goals.
- Support Board development, planning, and governance initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, social impact, or related field (preferred but not
required). - Proven leadership experience in nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organizations.
- Experience cultivating sponsor and donor relationships
- Strong skills in fundraising, budgeting, financial management, and organizational operations.
- Demonstrated passion for cycling, mobility, youth development, community impact, or related fields.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management abilities.
- Experience leading and the ability to delegate.
- Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends for events or community activities.
Compensation & Benefits
· Salary: $70,000 – $80,000, commensurate with experience.
