$46,397.00
To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:
- 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
- A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.
The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

The Graphic Design & Media Specialist is responsible for developing, designing, and creating graphics and publications (including digital/social media) for the Student Life Office that inform and educate diverse audiences about Student Life programs, services, and involvement opportunities. Additionally, this position advises and consults student leaders in the Student Government Association (SGA), Campus Activities Programming (CAP) Board, 15+ Student Clubs & Organizations, and Student Life employees on designing effective, inclusive, and accessible campaigns. The person in this position must be able to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of graphic design and media trends, including the use of various social media platforms. This position is responsible for utilizing a content management system to create, manage, modify, and update web content.
Graphic Design & Media Production:
- Create professionally designed, creative, inclusive, and accessible marketing for events, programs, and initiatives to a diverse student audience.
- Create professionally designed, creative, inclusive, and accessible informational/educational media in support of Student Life's learning and programmatic objectives (i.e. social norming wellness campaigns, voter education, etc.).
- Write compelling, concise, professional content highlighting, marketing, and reporting on Student Life initiatives; copy edit writing produced for similar purposes by Student Life department colleagues.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications department’s graphic designer(s), social media manager, and other content creators.
- Ensure Student Life marketing materials, publications, and promotional materials are in compliance with copyright law and Marketing & Communications’ brand requirements and style guides.
- Research and stay up-to-date with how social media channels work and change, including how to apply new social media trends and technology as appropriate
- Increase visibility of Student Life, SGA, CAP, and club events, programs, and initiatives by creating interesting content as well as interacting with followers on social media accounts.
- Develop and implement strategies to assess the effectiveness of various forms of marketing and communications.
Advising & Supervision:
- Supervise at least one student Graphic Design intern/employee.
- Advise SGA Vice President for Public Relations.
- Advise and consult SGA and CAP and Student Club leaders as well as Student Life colleagues on designing effective, inclusive, & accessible campaigns.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Attend and support Student Life meetings and events.
- May sit on College-wide committees or councils.
- Serve as liaison between Student Life Department and outside agencies engaged to promote Student Life events and activities (i.e. vendors of promotional items, marketing tools, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree, plus two (2) years of professional work experience completing graphic design and/or marketing projects for a client/client-base. Professional work experience includes; but is not limited to, project management/coordination and excellent communication with clients or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
- Understanding of the production process.
- Experience creating infographics, flyers, posters, logos, videos, advertisements and more for print and digital/social media consumption.
- Experience with laying out publications, such as reports, guides, fact sheets and more.
- A strong command of design principles and effective visual communication for a variety of audiences and communication tools, including print, digital, and multimedia.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite apps (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with and design for a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications, Marketing, or other related field.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex information or conceptual ideas to create a variety of graphics and illustrations for print and digital formats.
- Experience with branding and maintaining a brand’s integrity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a community college setting.
- Ability to adapt to emerging trends and best practices in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of media design and production.
- Strong understanding of copyright law and ability to stay up to date with changes.
