Summary

The Marketing and Communications Manager supports the Colorado Music Festival and Center for Musical Arts (a summer classical music festival and year-round community music school). The core mission of this role is to build audience engagement, increase earned revenue, and drive both first-time and repeat donations to support the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities
This role requires hands-on execution across all communications channels:

  • Strategic Leadership & Team Management: Collaborate with the Director of Marketing on the development of annual strategic content and marketing plans, and lead the execution of all resulting initiatives. Lead, mentor, and manage the Marketing Coordinator and summer interns.
  • Brand & Content Ownership: Own the brand voice, content strategy, and editorial direction across all organizational platforms, partnering with the Director of Marketing to maintain absolute consistency and ensuring all public-facing materials are error-free.
  • Digital Channel Oversight (Email, Social, Web): Provide strategic direction, audience segmentation, and high-level copywriting for digital channels. Oversee the Marketing Coordinator’s execution of content to optimize performance, drive engagement, and maintain data integrity.
  • Revenue & Audience Campaigns: Design, manage, and execute integrated marketing campaigns to drive audience development, increase earned revenue, and support fundraising efforts with strategic content.
  • Public Relations & Storytelling: Lead local PR efforts, including media pitching, press release writing, and managing media relations. Identify and develop compelling impact stories from across the organization for various distribution channels.
  • Annual Program Book Production: Manage the entire annual Festival program book project, from content collection and design coordination to final delivery, ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedule.
  • Event Support: Provide essential on-site logistical and communications support for the Festival (primarily summer) and the Center (year-round) events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional marketing communications management experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proven success in developing, implementing, and measuring integrated marketing and communications plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, dependable, and proactive with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset.
  • Music education, orchestra, or performing arts experience is a plus.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Schedule: Full-time, exempt position. The typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm.
  • Flexibility: Event presence is required, which necessitates working outside traditional hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Hybrid Location: This is a hybrid role with 1-2 in-office days per week in Lafayette. In-person attendance is required for many team meetings, events/concerts, and all group strategy sessions.
  • Team Environment: CMF&CMA is a small organization; all staff are expected to work flexibly and collaboratively.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $60,000–$65,000 annually.
  • Benefits: Compensation includes 65% paid health and dental insurance, an optional 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
