Job Summary: The Outreach Manager will lead initiatives to help advance equitable awareness and access to library services, programs, and resources. They will coordinate staff to ensure the library’s presence in the community and at community events, as well as initiatives that bring community members to the library. Using both English and Spanish, the Outreach Manager will serve as a critical relationship builder with people and organizations in our diverse community. They will also provide leadership, supervision, training, and guidance to the staff on matters related to outreach.
This is a 40-hour-per-week, exempt, at-will role.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts Outreach and Relationship Building: Engages in outreach and programming within the community. Build relationships with a diverse range of community members and organizations, particularly underserved community members and those organizations that serve them, to increase awareness and access to the library’s programs, services, and resources. (30%)
- Develops and Manages Systems: Designs, develops, and maintains outreach systems and budgets to enhance the library's ability to serve the community more effectively. Coordinates community outreach requests, manages outreach supplies, and the pedal-assisted Book Bike. (30%)
- Leadership and Management: Builds relationships, coordinates, and provides staff leadership. Supervises an outreach staff and coordinates with staff and volunteers who contribute to outreach efforts. Creates toolkits and staff outreach training. Develops and manages strategic plans, work plans, budgets, and annual reports to achieve goals. (30%)
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develops fun and engaging learning activities/ programs to highlight the library's services and programs.
- Leads the outreach portion of communications to publicize large-scale community programs or events.
- Trains and supervises staff, volunteers, interns, and/or stipend workers to support outreach efforts.
- Leads on-site outreach activities, such as library tours.
- Solicits community feedback and evaluates outreach services and programs.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years in either a library, education, or outreach field working with children and their families.
- Building mutually beneficial relationships with diverse people and organizations that broaden an organization’s reach into the community.
- Management and leadership experience across departments and organizations.
- Supervising staff and volunteers, and coordinating as well as scheduling people.
- Creating and managing systems to oversee outreach, including the management of materials, supplies, books, etc., as well as training for staff and volunteers who help with outreach.
Minimum required skills:
- Managing the staffing of events and programs
- Building and maintaining project and systems management
- Building and maintaining systems for managing and coordinating physical items, information, staffing, and other resources.
- Strong technology skills and the ability to learn and manage technology systems, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
- Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish.
- Interpersonal communication and relationship building with people from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, ages, and abilities.
- Ability to create welcoming and educational experiences and programming for people from diverse communities, especially children.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep connections to the Boulder community.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments as well as work independently, complete tasks on time, and demonstrate constructive problem-solving.
- Experience working with volunteer management software.
- An interest in the library, books, reading, and community building, and a demonstrated ability to positively inspire and energize people about library services and materials.
- Experience designing and delivering fun learning programs that engage diverse communities and serve a variety of people, including adults, teens, and children.
- Experience working with volunteers to carry out and expand work.
- Familiarity with children’s learning and instruction, and delivering programs in library or community environments.
Working Conditions:
Light work in an office environment, and regular meetings and outreach in the community at community organizations’ offices and events. Performing repetitive motions. Grasping, lifting, and/or raising objects from a lower to a higher position, or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Seeing, hearing, and speaking are required. Ability to talk for extended periods at community events, lift 40 lbs., move materials, and guide learning with community members.
Able to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions. Holder of a current Colorado Driver’s license and willing to drive staff and/or materials to events. Ability to drive and operate a pedal-assisted Book Bike.

Salary Description
Hiring Range: $32.11 to $36.13
