This position will support weekend security operations, with the officer working Saturday and Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Colorado Academy has consistent weekend activity where students, staff, parents, or the general public with an authorized purpose may visit the campus.

Description

Part-time, 12-month non-exempt position that reports directly to the Director of Risk Management. Safety & Security staff are responsible for patrolling the 94-acre campus and monitoring all activity. This position will support weekend security operations, with the officer working Saturday and Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Colorado Academy has consistent weekend activity where students, staff, parents, or the general public with an authorized purpose may visit the campus.  The selected individual will provide visible presence to ensure the campus remains safe and must be a self-starter who can work independently and make decisions with minimal guidance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings, campus grounds, and parking lots on foot and in a vehicle to observe unusual behavior and deter illegal activity through physical presence.
  • Observe the activities of persons in and around campus buildings including monitoring security systems such as cameras and alarms.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and guide campus visitors to weekend events and ensure other parts of the campus remain secure.
  • Able to work independently and proactively assess problem situations while exercising tact and judgment in bringing about their resolution.
  • Execute emergency response plans if needed.
  • Document all credible campus incidents in the Colorado Academy incident management database.
  • Enforce parking and driving rules of Colorado Academy.
  • Work cooperatively, courteously, and professionally with all segments of the Colorado Academy community as well as outside visitors with an authorized purpose.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in paid training opportunities and Professional Development days which may occur weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Work successfully with security team members to achieve department goals.
  • Voluntary overtime opportunities may be occasionally offered.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent desired.
  • This is an unarmed role with 4 years of prior military or security experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and motor vehicle record must meet established standards.
  • The applicant must be able to pass a background check and drug screening which is provided and paid for by Colorado Academy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable with radio communication and public speaking.
  • Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Take and pass basic first aid, CPR, and AED certification when offered through the school.
  • The applicant must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements year-round.
  • Ability to walk for long distances.

The pay for this position is $33.00-$34.00 per hour. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender, or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience. Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance benefit programs are available, as is a 403(b) retirement plan. Eligibility for all benefit programs is defined by the applicable plan document.
