POSITION SUMMARY:

At Brent’s Place, fostering a sense of community and volunteerism is integral to our mission. The Volunteer Engagement Manager (VEM) spearheads the entire volunteer experience and focuses efforts to recruit, retain, and (re)engage volunteers, ensuring they play a vital role in supporting families facing medical crises. The VEM will be an important outreach champion in the community, working with community organizations, neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations, and other prospective groups and individuals.  Collaborating closely with program leads and external partners, you'll be the driving force behind our volunteer initiatives and in-kind giving, from outreach and onboarding to program improvement and stewardship.  

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Volunteer Program Management (60%)

  • Metrics and Goals: Define key metrics, annual goals, and a long-term strategy for our volunteer program, focusing on growth and impact.

  • Supervision and Evaluation: Oversee the volunteer’s functions and experience, providing guidance and support while evaluating performance and adherence to guidelines.

  • Training and Development: Develop and enhance comprehensive training materials and orientations to equip volunteers with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed at Brent’s Place.  Manage the volunteer database and provide online and in-person onboarding and continuous training opportunities to support new and existing volunteers. 

  • Recognition and Stewardship: Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions through personalized outreach and meaningful appreciation initiatives.

  • Policy and Procedures: Stay abreast of best practices in volunteer management, updating policies and procedures accordingly to ensure program effectiveness and volunteer satisfaction.

  • Creativity and Continuous Improvement:  Work collaboratively with Brent’s Place teams to evolve and grow all volunteer opportunities to meet the changing needs of the families and the organization. 

Community Outreach (40%)

  • Promote Volunteerism: Represent Brent’s Place at community events and meetings, sharing our mission and volunteer opportunities.

  • Recruitment Strategies: Develop innovative strategies to attract a diverse pool of volunteers, ensuring inclusivity and representation.

  • Partnership Coordination: In collaboration with Brent’s Place teams, collaborate with community partners to organize volunteer initiatives and maximize impact.

  • Corporate Volunteer Programs: In collaboration with the External Affairs team, facilitate partnerships with corporations, coordinate volunteer activities, and foster meaningful engagement.

  • Support On-Site Program Volunteerism: Collaborate with team members on in-kind holiday gifts, holiday family meals, and volunteer opportunities for our Holiday Giving Program.

  • In-Kind Giving: Enhance impact with community partners, including in-kind giving opportunities to support organizational impact and effectiveness.

  • Volunteer Management Experience: Proven experience in managing volunteer programs and driving growth. Experience with Galaxy Digital is a plus but not necessary.

  • Effective Program Administrator: With your keen organizational skills, you'll oversee all aspects of our volunteer program, from setting goals to evaluating outcomes. You're always looking for ways to be creative and improve.

  • Organized Relationship Manager: Building and maintaining relationships will be key to your success as you connect with volunteers, partners, and internal stakeholders. You enjoy being around people and getting them to participate in our mission!

  • People-Oriented Collaborator: Working with diverse groups comes naturally to you, and you thrive in collaborative environments to ensure everyone’s voice is heard and valued. You are confident working in a wide range of social and business settings. Previous people/team management, coaching, or direct supervision responsibilities is preferred. 

  • Persuasive Public Speaker: You'll be the face of our volunteer program, inspiring others to join our cause through compelling presentations and conversations.

  • Organizational and Communication Skills: Combining excellent organizational skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities to ensure everyone involved in our volunteer program stays informed and engaged. This includes external partners as well as internal staff and families.

  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in various computer applications and platforms, eager to learn new ones as needed.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability:  Situations involving people can be wonderfully complicated, and we do our best to create plans and structure.  When things might not go according to plan, you adjust, have a positive can-do attitude during and after the situation, and are open to learning from it.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULE

Our work environment is dynamic just by the nature of our work with families in medical crisis. No day looks the same as another as we respond, support, and care for our families. The environment requires high emotional energy and ranges from joyful to heartbreaking, exhilarating to exhausting, detail-oriented to broad support for our community. We are a compassionate team who work seamlessly together to support our families and care for one another. 

Due to the nature of this work, the Volunteer Engagement Manager is expected to work some evenings and weekends.  Much of the Brent’s Place team operates with a hybrid schedule, spending three days at a Brent’s Place office and two days working from a home office in the Denver Metro Area.  

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Compensation will be commensurate with experience on a pay scale of $52,000 – $66,000. A comprehensive benefits package is available, including vacation, sick leave, holidays, health, dental, supplemental and life insurance, and retirement plan contributions.
