Overview
The National Western Stock Show is currently seeking a Rodeo Operations Coordinator to join the Rodeo Team and provide year-round support towards putting forth a high-quality program during the annual Stock Show. As the Rodeo Operations Coordinator, you will report directly to the Vice President of Rodeo Operations and support them in fulfilling the duties of the NWSS Rodeo Department, including primary support for all rodeos each January during the National Western Stock Show. The Rodeo Operations Coordinator supports the VP of Rodeo Operations by overseeing daily office functions, coordinating rodeo-related programs, managing communications with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring efficient execution of administrative and logistical tasks. This role plays a key part in the successful planning and execution of rodeo events and serves as a central point of contact within the rodeo department.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage daily administrative functions and office operations for the Rodeo Department.
- Demonstrate clear and comprehensive communication skills regarding all aspects of coordinator duties.
- Serve as a liaison between the VP of Rodeo Operations and internal/external stakeholders.
- Schedule meetings, maintain calendars, and support communication flows for the department.
- Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage throughout events.
- Oversee event-related logistics, including credentials, hospitality, communications, and supplies.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of rodeo programming, including day sheets, production teams, specialty acts, and contestant services.
- Maintain rodeo databases, records, contracts, and program files in an organized and secure manner.
- Assist with budget tracking, invoice processing, and financial documentation for rodeo events.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and responsibilities related to rodeo operations.
- Support marketing and promotional efforts for rodeo programs as needed.
- Provide on-site support during rodeo events to ensure smooth operations and quick resolution of issues.
- Work with and assist in the selection and management of interns.
- Promptly responds to all Rodeo-related inquiries, involving the VP of Rodeo Operations as needed.

Skills & Abilities
- Required: High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Strongly Preferred: Familiarity with rodeo events and livestock/agriculture industry.
- Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Event Management, Agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling/CRM tools.
- Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Capable of managing schedules, working under deadlines, and working with the NWSS team as a whole with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Must have a passion for the agricultural industry. Familiarity with the National Western Stock Show (specifically our Rodeos) is strongly preferred.
Physical Demands
National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, as well as on varied surfaces. Our employees must be able to work indoors and outdoors with regular and prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, must be comfortable working at heights, and be able to work around moving machinery and equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active at times and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 25 pounds.
Scheduling Requirements
While the schedule for this position is primarily Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, there will be certain occasions in which early morning, late evening, weekend, or holiday availability will be required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Like almost all NWSS team members, this position will need to be on-site every day during the Stock Show, typically for 12-16 hours at a time.
Pay Range & Benefits
- This is a full-time, salaried/exempt position with a starting salary of $57,000 – $65,000 annually.
