We are seeking a dynamic and media-savvy Marketing and Communications Manager to support our growing work in the community. This is a unique opportunity for a talented communications expert to lead our marketing efforts. The role is equal parts communications strategy and hands-on creation and implementation.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement a
comprehensive marketing and communications plan aligned with
organizational goals. - Manage the relationship with the
outsourced PR/communications firm to expand capacity and reach. - Track and analyze the
effectiveness of campaigns to inform future strategies.
Content
Development
- Write and produce newsletters,
press releases, website content, donor stories, and reports. - Create engaging digital and print
materials for donors, volunteers, and community partners. - Ensure messaging reflects the
Action Center’s brand voice and strategic priorities. - Effectively manage outsourced
PR/Communications company to optimize in-house and outsourced content
production and delivery.
Design
& Multimedia
- Serve as in-house designer for
collateral, presentations, signage, and promotional materials. - Capture and edit engaging photos
and videos to highlight programs, events, and impact. - Coordinate with printers, mail
houses, and other vendors to ensure quality and timeliness.
Digital
& Social Media
- Maintain and update website
content to keep it accurate and engaging. - Manage and schedule content across
social media platforms. - Monitor engagement and adapt
strategies to maximize reach and effectiveness.
Media
& Public Relations
- Act as the organization’s primary
media contact and maintain a current press list. - Write and distribute press
releases, story pitches, and media alerts. - Collaborate with the PR firm to
secure coverage and manage crisis communications as needed.
Collaboration
& Events
- Partner with internal teams to
support fundraising and community events with strong marketing materials. - Provide onsite communications
support through photography, videography, and live updates. - Assist in planning and executing
special events, donor gatherings, and volunteer recognition.
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Bachelor’s degree in marketing,
communications, journalism, or related field; or equivalent relevant
experience.
· Strong preference for significant
non-profit experience.
· Minimum seven years’ professional
experience in marketing, communications, graphic design or public relations.
· Significant experience creating
and editing impactful photos and video to support brand strategy.
· Strong writing, editing, and
public speaking skills; proven ability to create compelling communications
across channels.
· Significant experience with
website content management (WordPress, Squarespace, or equivalent), content creation in Canva and MS Office
Workspace
· Significant experience with Adobe
Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier) or equivalent preferred.
· Experience in managing outside
vendors, printers, and contractors.
· Demonstrated success with increasing
reach through social media and digital campaigns.
· Strong organizational, time
management, and cross-departmental collaboration skills.
SUPERVISORY
This position is responsible for
supervising an outsourced PR communications firm which supports the organization
as needed for larger projects and backup marketing and communications needs.
PHYSICAL
DEMANDS
Light lifting of equipment and materials. Able to lift 15lbs.
WORK
ENVIRONMENT
The work involves normal physical
activity associated with an office environment and a development department
with event set-up/tear-down of tables and displays. Will
conduct presentations and support off-site events which sometimes include
weekends and evenings.
