Description
The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the premier international membership association for physicians, researchers, and medical professionals, who are dedicated to conquering lung and thoracic cancers worldwide. We are seeking a Development Specialist to support the administration of the IASLC Foundation and Patient Advocacy programs.
Day to day, the Development Specialist provides administrative support for the fundraising and donor engagement initiatives of the IASLC Foundation, including donor stewardship, campaign execution, and internal program support across departments. This position will also provide operational and program support for Patient Advocacy related to program delivery, partnership tracking, funding alignment, and cross-functional coordination.
This nonsupervisory position is physically based in our downtown Denver, CO office on a hybrid work schedule. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.
In this role, you will:
- Support IASLC Foundation fundraising activities including individual giving, planned giving, corporate support, and private foundations.
- Primary point of contact for individual donors and IASLC Foundation sponsors regarding donations, sponsorship fulfillment, including responsibility for tracking sponsorship revenue, communicating deliverables, preparing final reports, and maintaining donor records and sponsorship fulfillment in tracking tools and CRM systems.
- Coordinate donor stewardship activities, including timely acknowledgements, recognition initiatives, and impact communications.
- Support logistics, tracking and organized documentation for Patient Advocacy-related sponsorships, partnerships, funding commitments, and engagement activities.
- Provide administrative and operational support for Patient Advocacy, as needed, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and assisting with logistics for patient-focused programs and events.
- Manage timelines, materials, and cross-functional communications that support Patient Advocacy initiatives across the organization, including donor-facing materials, stewardship reports, campaign updates, reports to leadership. and Advisory Board updates.
- Work closely with internal marketing team in strategically developing engaging campaigns and assist in the process of communications, newsletters, and other printed materials. Assist in execution of Foundation and Advocacy campaigns and digital initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal fundraising and data management policies.
- Provide excellent customer service by accommodating global partners’ and donors’ special needs and requests as appropriate.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team and maintain positive interpersonal relationships in a small, cooperative working environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to IASLC conferences, as needed.
A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in development, sponsorship, nonprofit fundraising, foundations, donor relations, or similar work.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively (orally and in writing) with donors, sponsors, external partners, and staff as a positive, responsive representative of the IASLC.
- Proactive customer service orientation, relationship building skills, and flexibility.
- Effective project management and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to complete routine tasks independently, as well as ability to collaborate effectively in teams.
- Proficiency in using software/technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, virtual meeting platforms, and project management software with ability to learn and integrate additional software into workflow quickly and effectively.
- Ability to work flexible hours when required, including occasional evenings and weekends and during high-volume periods of the year.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed (up to 1-2 times per year).
- Multilingual fluency/literacy would be a plus.

- Hybrid work schedule. Employees are based in our Denver office 2 days weekly and are allowed to work remotely 3 days per week.
- Compensation: $65,000-68,000 annually, depending on related experience and education.
