Colorado Ballet Company is a Denver-based nonprofit organization celebrating more than 65 years of excellence. Colorado Ballet’s mission is to present exceptional classical ballet and contemporary dance through performances, training, education and community engagement while inspiring and growing an increasingly diverse audience base. Under the direction of the Artistic Director, Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet presents more than 50 performances annually to sold-out audiences in the 2,080-seat Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
The Raydean Acevedo Colorado Ballet Academy serves over 1,200 students each year, from toddlers to seniors. Colorado Ballet’s Education and Community Engagement programming engages with students, teachers, families, people with disabilities, and lifelong learners, making more than 70,000 contacts in 300 schools and organizations annually.
Position Overview
Colorado Ballet is seeking a motivated Accounting Associate for our office in the Arts District on Santa Fe. This is an ideal entry-level position in the accounting field. Colorado Ballet’s Accounting Associate is responsible for providing superb front-line customer service for all Colorado Ballet departments. This position requires someone who can handle a high volume of transactions with an elevated standard of detail and accuracy. This individual reports to the Director of Accounting.
Key Duties and Functions
- Facilitating accounts payable process
- Managing purchasing card program
- Entering, tracking, and making cash and check deposits
- Withdrawing cash from bank, and accounting for per diems and change funds
- Accounting for credit card deposits
- Assisting with boutique inventory management
- Preparing and submitting journal entries
- Maintaining electronic and physical filing systems
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar education, or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting experience
- Interest in building a career in accounting
- Strong computer skills with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Clear and professional written and oral communication
- Cash handling experience
- Experience with customer databases, a plus
