Communications Intern

Description

We’re seeking a summer intern to support our communications and events in engaging our community across digital platforms and in-person gatherings. This role is ideal for a student or emerging professional who loves storytelling, values community-building, and has a sharp eye for clear and compelling content. The role is 20 hrs/week for 9 weeks in the summer (June–August, dates flexible). The intern will be compensated at $20/hour, up to a total of $3,500 for the summer, plus reimbursement for public transit costs.

The Alliance for Collective Action brings people together to develop and advance solutions for an inclusive, regenerative future. We run a mission-driven coworking and events space called the Alliance Center in downtown Denver, and we convene climate and sustainability leaders, and support Collective Impact projects across Denver and beyond.

 

Communications Intern Key Responsibilities

  • Support our email newsletter: Draft and format monthly newsletters in Mailchimp, including member spotlights, event promos, and community updates.
  • Write blog articles: Research and draft short blog posts that highlight tenants, partners, or regenerative practices.
  • Manage social media content: Assist with planning, drafting, and scheduling posts on Instagram, LinkedIn, and other channels.
  • Support community events: Help with event prep, setup, check-in, and capturing content for day of and follow-up communications.
  • Assist with analytics and tracking: Monitor engagement and help identify ways to improve reach and resonance.
  • Assist with WordPress website updates: Help keep pages and blog content current, make minor edits, and troubleshoot layout or link issues.
  • Organize digital assets: manage the organization’s library of photos, graphics, and video assets to enhance content development, ensure brand consistency, and support staff accessibility in alignment with the overall communications strategy

  • Are familiar with Instagram, LinkedIn, and content planning tools
  • Can take initiative and manage your own time
  • Are curious, community-minded, and enthusiastic about our mission
  • Bonus: Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, and WordPress

 

Days and hours will be flexible for this role, with at least two days per week required in the Alliance Center office in downtown Denver. Wednesdays are Team Days, so some Wednesdays will be required. We can be flexible with your summer vacation plans.
