PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The hiring range for this position is $72,080 – $112,625 annually, with typical starting salaries ranging from $72,080 to $90,100. However, the final salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience and may exceed the mid-range based on qualifications.
This position will close on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025. This position may close unexpectedly if we receive a sufficient pool of candidates.
The Court Supervisor provides divisional supervision to ensure the critical business needs, including daily operations, records and project management, and administrative duties of Court Administration and Aurora Municipal Court. The position supports the division Manager to establish effective operations, processes, and policies including understanding and managing legislative changes that affect court processes.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizes, supervises and coordinates the daily job duties of assigned staff responsible for all aspects of processing municipal court cases

Participates in the development of staff work plans, measures and tracks progress toward goals, prepares and conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations

Participates in the day-to-day work of the Court Clerk’s team

Supervises entry, retention, and destruction of court records

Performs quality assurance and delivers recurring reports accurately and on time

Review, investigate, and resolve errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports

Creates, modifies, and maintains the division’s policies and procedures
-
Provides court and case information to defendants, attorneys, police officers, and the public pursuant to the open records act and confidentiality requirements

Provides excellent customer service, communicates courteously and responsibly, provides effective and efficient working relationships throughout the organization and the community
-
Exercises the appropriate level of initiative and judgement to make decisions within the scope of assigned authority

Facilitates and implements employee training and development

Performs complex or non-routine clerical and administrative support functions

Responds to a variety of inquiries and complaints requiring the interpretation of policy and procedures

Corresponds with other jurisdictions to exchange/correct case status and documents

Provides updates regularly and/or at critical moments or when appropriate

Make recommendations for functional revisions using knowledge of current statutes, rules and ordinances governing legal proceedings

Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and facilitates and implements training and development of personal growth opportunities for employees

Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees through bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field
-
High School Diploma
Experience:
-
At least three (3) years of court leadership and direct supervisory staff experience (municipal court preferred)
-
At least three (3) years progressively responsible administrative municipal court experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge:

Knowledge of court procedures and protocol as well as all records management requirements associated with Court Administration
-
Knowledge of municipal and state regulations, city ordinances, state statues, and municipal laws pertaining to municipal court documents and procedures, records management, and personnel administration

Knowledge of analysis and research techniques sufficient to be able to determine what information is needed; gather and analyze the information and formulate logical recommendations

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification required within six (6) months of hire

Essential Personnel:

When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
