Job Title: Director of Business Services
Reports to: Senior Director of Quality and Growth
Organization: The Colorado League of Charter Schools (the “League”) has 18 staff members, a statewide membership of 262 schools with 136,000 students, a distinguished 30-year history, a prominent 13-member board of directors, and a strong fiscal position. The League’s mission is to improve student achievement by supporting Colorado’s charter public schools, positively reshaping the public-school landscape, advancing opportunities for innovation, and expanding high-quality public-school choice. Position Summary: The Director of Business Services supports the operational and financial success of Colorado charter schools by delivering training, technical assistance, and partnership programming that meet the evolving needs of the sector. This role serves as a key connector between charter school operations teams and solution-oriented vendors, while contributing to the League’s broader strategy and member impact goals.
Essential Job Duties: include the following.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Charter School Support & Programming (65%)
- Design and deliver high-quality school supports for school business managers, CFOs, and operational leaders, including training, tools, and technical assistance.
- Lead and manage all Great Schools Colorado Grant-funded Technical Assistance business and operations services providers and offerings, including coordination, documentation, reporting, and execution.
- Facilitate peer networking (e.g., Business Manager Network, Operations Cohorts) that foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Create and curate operational toolkits, guidance documents, and newsletters aligned to best practices and compliance needs.
- Collaborate with the CDE, CACSA and other partners to co-host quarterly business manager events and the annual finance seminar.
- Support content planning and delivery of operational tracks at League-hosted events including the Annual Conference and Leadership Summit.
- Research and maintain accurate records of charter school financial procedures, organizational health metrics, and factors influencing audits and renewal decisions.
- Support the School Services Team with School Quality Reviews by reviewing school financials and providing feedback and recommendations
2. Business Manager & Partner Relationship Building (15%)
- Support the League’s Premium Partner, Marketplace, and Event Sponsor programs through relationship-building between business managers and vendors.
- Collaborate on the development and promotion of vendor offerings and packages that are relevant to school priorities.
- Collaborate, when needed, on vendor strategy calls to ensure strong charter sector understanding and service alignment.
- Develop a plan and execute (with other key staff TBD) to form relationships between vendor sectors where needed and applicable.
- Coordinate logistics and communications for vendor-facing events and promotional efforts.
- Assist with onboarding, renewals, and recordkeeping for vendor engagements and sponsorships.
3. Strategic Planning, Leadership & Collaboration (20%)
- Support the League’s strategic priorities by contributing to planning, goal setting, and tracking of Business Services outcomes.
- Partner with other internal teams to integrate operations-focused supports into broader technical assistance and school quality initiatives.
- Identify sponsorship or grant opportunities to enhance the reach and sustainability of the Business Services program.
- Use data and feedback to evaluate and adapt offerings based on school needs and sector trends.
- Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: To successfully perform this job, the employee must:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in charter school finance, operations, or nonprofit business leadership.
- Knowledge of Colorado’s charter school financial models, funding streams, and compliance structures.
- Experience delivering adult learning, especially in school budgeting, financial analysis, or strategic planning.
- Strong relationship-building skills with both school and external partners.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. - High level of initiative, autonomy, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with vendors or business services that support K–12 schools.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Ready Membership) and cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace).
- Comfort with public speaking, facilitation, and cross-functional team collaboration.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position may have supervisory responsibilities for entry-level support contractors or staff.
LANGUAGE AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in clear and understandable English. Ability to effectively present information to internal leadership.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION: Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - Normal office environment with hybrid work option. There is a minimum requirement to work from our Denver office in person on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (at minimum) for staff and team meetings.
- The noise level in the work environment varies between quiet and moderate.
- Travel: Occasional travel and work off-site.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $105,000, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive benefits package including the opportunity to earn an annual performance bonus, up to 20 days paid holidays, including two weeks around the Winter and New Year holidays, generous paid time off that accrues with tenure in addition to the paid holidays, attractive medical plans, including 100% employer paid options, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, and disability benefits, and paid maternity and paternity leave.
