The Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) is an independent non-profit that equips partners and communities in Colorado and across the nation with the resources, services and unbiased data needed to improve health and health care. As the designated administrator of Colorado’s All Payer Claims Database (CO APCD), CIVHC oversees the collection of health care claims from Colorado’s public and private health care insurers and uses that information to promote price transparency, inform policy, advance health equity, conduct research, and much more. Job Summary:

The Director of Impact leads the organization’s strategic efforts to amplify its mission, values, and outcomes across all audiences. The Director leads a team of communication and marketing professionals to drive engagement with health care providers, policymakers, community partners, and the general public. This role encompasses both tactical execution and strategic leadership, ensuring alignment between day-to-day activities and long-term organizational impact.  In partnership with the communications and marketing team, the Director of Impact will set team- and organizational-marketing and communications goals and objectives. 

This position plays a critical role in increasing awareness of CIVHC among key stakeholders and new and existing clients by enhancing brand recognition and strengthening business development initiatives through effective marketing campaigns and communications. This role is collaborative and high impact, driving brand recognition and expanding our partner reach by generating and executing innovative and compelling marketing initiatives. This role goes beyond messaging to drive measurable social impact through integrated storytelling, brand strategy, partner engagement, and data-driven communications.  This role ensures that the organization’s voice not only resonates externally but also aligns internally, fostering a culture of purpose, transparency, and accountability.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily activities of the Communication and Marketing team, including campaign planning, content development, and performance tracking.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and mentors departmental staff. 
  • Conducts performance evaluations and coaching. 
  • Leads cross team and cross department collaboration and partnership within CIVHC, to ensure coordination and efficiency in the execution of day-to-day tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Develops and executes integrated marketing and communication plans to support CIVHC’s strategic goals and enhance visibility across Colorado, and nationally.
  • Designs and oversees multi-channel marketing campaigns to support business development, including email, social media, website, events, and media.
  • Executes these campaigns leveraging Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement functionality
  • Establish the vision, structure, and oversee the implementation of a new CIVHC website and digital presence to maximize engagement and user experience.
  • Collaborates with CIVHC leaders and teams to develop engaging messaging for service offerings and organizational priorities.
  • Leads branding and messaging efforts to ensure consistency and clarity across all communications.
  • Oversees the creation of high-impact content including press releases, blogs, newsletters, reports, presentations, and marketing collateral.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with media outlets, partners, community-based organizations, and key sponsors.
  • Leads efforts to tell compelling stories using data from the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (CO APCD).
  • Oversees the planning and execution of educational events, webinars, and promotional activities.
  • Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of communication and marketing efforts through analytics, key performance indicators, and community outreach.
  • Stays current with industry trends and best practices in communication, marketing, and public health.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, marketing tools, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement.
  • Ability to translate complex data and health care concepts into accessible messaging.
  • Skilled in content creation, media relations, and storytelling.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field; 7 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications will be accepted in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in marketing and communications.
  • Demonstrated success in leading marketing strategy and business development support.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team is required.
  • Experience in health care, public health, or a data-focused organization is highly desirable.
  • Experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement is highly desirable.

Working Environment:

This position is based in Denver, Colorado and only applicants that live within commuting distance to Denver, or plan to relocate to a commutable distance will be considered for this role. Limited relocation assistance may be available for out of state candidates. CIVHC operates in a hybrid work environment with a requirement of at least 1-day per week in the office.

This position involves long-term sitting, computer /desk work, some walking and standing, minimal light lifting, in an office environment.  Virtual, phone, and in-person communication. Some overnight travel may be required, less than 5%.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $130,000 annually, based on relevant experience, education, and internal equity.
