Summary

Colorado Ballet seeks a highly organized, relationship-driven, and mission-aligned Donor Engagement Programs Coordinator to assist with some community-facing patron pipeline programs, most prominently the long-standing Sugarplum program and its Auxiliary volunteers. This part-time role manages logistics, communications, volunteers, recruitment support and family engagement for these signature programs while serving as Colorado Ballet’s staff liaison to the Auxiliary and its leadership.

The Raydean Acevedo Colorado Ballet Academy serves over 1,200 students each year, from toddlers to seniors. Colorado Ballet’s Education and Community Engagement programming engages with students, teachers, families, people with disabilities, and lifelong learners, making more than 35,000 contacts in 300 schools and organizations annually.

Position Overview 

Colorado Ballet seeks a highly organized, relationship-driven, and mission-aligned Donor Engagement Programs Coordinator to assist with some community-facing patron pipeline programs, most prominently the long-standing Sugarplum program and its Auxiliary volunteers. This part-time role manages logistics, communications, volunteers, recruitment support and family engagement for these signature programs while serving as Colorado Ballet’s staff liaison to the Auxiliary and its leadership. This position is well-suited for those who excel in event planning, volunteer engagement, working with large groups, and community building, and are passionate about advancing the arts in Denver. This position will also be required to work evenings and weekends.  

The Colorado Ballet Auxiliary is a volunteer-led philanthropic group that supports the Ballet through fundraising, special events, and community-building traditions, including the Sugarplum program. During the Sugarplum season (approximately six months annually), this position leads the full program lifecycle and deepens family engagement while a part of the advancement team. Outside of the season, the role both supports the Advancement team in converting Auxiliary participation into long-term affiliation with Colorado Ballet through donor cultivation, Academy participation, season ticketing, and volunteer or leadership pathways and supports the existing events team with member events. 

Key Duties and Functions 

Sugarplum Program & Patronage Pipeline 
Oversee the full Sugarplum lifecycle, including onboarding, fittings, communications, rehearsals, and signature events (tea, holiday party, Ball, Nutcracker presentation).  
Centralize and digitize logistics (ticketing, RSVPs, payments, and communications) and maintain program standards, budgets, and timelines.  

Volunteer Engagement 
Serve as the staff liaison to Colorado Ballet Auxiliary, supporting their efforts and ensuring strong communication and alignment with Advancement goals. 
Coordinate 3–5 Auxiliary events annually and provide logistics, vendor coordination, communications, and on-site support. 
Build relationships with families, alumni, and volunteers that promote ongoing leadership and engagement pathways. 

Donor Cultivation & Community Engagement 
Collaborate with Advancement to transition families into ongoing engagement (philanthropy, subscriptions, or Academy participation). 
Track touchpoints and involvement to support stewardship and donor pipeline strategy. 
Help identify and develop new cultivation opportunities or programs that extend beyond the Sugarplum season. 
Support experiences that deepen connection to Colorado Ballet’s mission and artistic work. 

Minimum Qualifications 

2+ years of experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, donor engagement, or community programming 
Strong organizational and communication skills 
Passion for the arts and community building 
Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism when working with families and community leaders. 
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment 
Familiarity with budgeting and event logistics.  
Availability for evening/weekend work at events, especially during Sugarplum season. 
This part-time position averages 20-25 hours per week. Actual weekly hours will fluctuate throughout the year based on program needs and event schedules.  

Preferred Qualifications 

Prior experience with the Sugarplum Program—either as a participant or through a family member. 
Familiarity with Denver-area school systems. 
Background or interest in dance, especially ballet. 
Event planning experience with youth and family audiences. 
Comfort with event or philanthropic software for communication, ticketing, and donor tracking.

Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) Information:  

Pay Range: $20 – $25/hour
