Gallery Sales & Marketing Manager
Position Type: Full-time / Exempt
Salary Range: $55,000 – $60,000
Reports to: Director of Marketing & Development
Location: Access Gallery, Denver, Colorado
Schedule: This is a full-time, exempt position. Regular gallery hours include Saturdays from 1–4 p.m. and the last Sunday of each month from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Evening and weekend hours are required for exhibition openings, special events and other organizational activities.

For more than two decades, Access Gallery has supported artists as they develop professional creative practices, exhibit and sell original artwork, connect with collectors, and participate fully in the cultural life of the community.
Position Overview
The Gallery Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for growing artwork sales, building collector relationships, managing artwork inventory and archival systems, and creating an exceptional gallery experience for artists, collectors, and community members.
This position connects visitors and buyers with the work of Access Gallery artists, develops new sales opportunities, and helps expand the market for their work. The Manager also supports marketing efforts through social media, email, website updates, storytelling, and content creation.
The ideal candidate brings gallery or art sales experience, strong relationship-building skills, sound judgment, and genuine enthusiasm for connecting people with art.
Key Responsibilities:
Gallery Sales, Collector Development & Merchandising

Drive artwork sales and contribute to annual earned revenue goals through relationship-building, exhibition sales, commissions, and community partnerships.

Build and cultivate relationships with collectors, first-time buyers, art consultants, businesses and community partners through personalized service, thoughtful follow-up, and ongoing communication.

Identify opportunities for artwork sales, commissions, corporate collections, and business partnerships.

Track public art opportunities and commissions, including deadlines, submissions, project status, and follow-up.

Create a welcoming and engaging experience for every gallery visitor.

Guide buyers through artwork selections based on their interests, space, and budget.

Support commissioned artwork from initial inquiry through completion and delivery.

Work with the Executive Director and Director of Marketing & Development to price original artwork, commissions, and special sales opportunities.

Manage gallery merchandise, including product selection, pricing, inventory, display, and sales.

Represent Access Gallery at exhibitions, openings, community events, and off-site sales opportunities.
Artwork Inventory & Archival

Lead Access Gallery's artwork inventory and archival process from completed work through documentation, storage, exhibition, and sale.

Maintain accurate artwork records, including artist, title, medium, dimensions, price, location, exhibition history, and sales status.

Support artwork photography, cataloging, labeling, and digital file management.

Ensure artwork information, pricing and availability remain consistent across inventory systems, the website, online shop, and gallery.

Track artwork movement between the studio, gallery, storage, off-site exhibitions, and buyers.

Conduct regular inventory reviews and ensure physical artwork matches digital records.

Ensure artwork is handled, stored, and documented according to professional gallery standards.
Gallery Operations & Exhibitions

Manage the daily presentation and operation of the gallery.

Oversee point-of-sale systems, online artwork sales, and order fulfillment.

Support exhibition planning, installation and deinstallation.

Coordinate gallery openings, First Fridays, Third Fridays, weekend coverage, and other public events.

Assist with off-site exhibitions, pop-up events, and fundraising activities.

Support artists and Teaching Artists during programming.

Complete documentation for Medicaid reporting.

Track artist participation in gallery events.

Supervise occasional part-time and contract workers with and without disabilities.
Marketing Support
Under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Development:

Create content and gather stories, photographs, video and artwork information for marketing and communications.

Assist with social media, email marketing, website updates, and exhibition promotion.

Identify opportunities to feature artists, exhibitions, and artwork across Access Gallery's communications.
Team Collaboration

Build positive working relationships across the organization.

Work respectfully and collaboratively with Access Gallery artists.

Participate in organizational planning, events, and team meetings.

Foster a workplace culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, creativity, and respect.
Required Qualifications

Two or more years of gallery, museum, art sales, or related experience.

Demonstrated success building customer or collector relationships and generating sales.

Strong organizational, communication and project management skills.

Experience maintaining artwork inventory and collection records. Familiarity with gallery or museum inventory systems is preferred.

Experience with point-of-sale systems and retail merchandising.

Experience with social media and website content management.

Proficiency with Google Workspace.

Ability to work evenings and weekends for exhibitions and events.

Commitment to Access Gallery's mission and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications

Contemporary gallery experience.

Knowledge of Denver's arts community.

Experience with Shopify, Square, Framer, or similar platforms.

Experience with artwork installation, shipping, and handling.

Experience supporting marketing and communications.

Experience working with people with disabilities or in an inclusive community setting.

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.

Ability to move throughout the gallery, studio, office, and other program locations.

Ability to regularly operate a computer and other standard office equipment.

Ability to lift, carry and move artwork and assist with exhibition installation, deinstallation, artwork transportation and event setup as needed.
