This position plans, creates, executes, and measures integrated marketing and communications that strengthen CBSA’s brand, deliver value to members, and elevate Colorado’s life sciences ecosystem. The specialist leads day-to-day content development, digital communications, social media, website management, and event marketing while collaborating with CBSA staff and external communications experts on strategy and major initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Integrated Marketing + Communications
- Develop and execute integrated marketing and communications campaigns for CBSA programs, membership initiatives, organizational priorities, and events, ensuring consistent messaging and on-time delivery.
- Manage the editorial calendar and develop content for email newsletters, CBSA’s annual magazine, blog posts, articles, presentations, and marketing and membership collateral.
- Create email campaigns, landing pages, and digital calls to action for targeted audience segments; maintain accurate distribution lists and follow applicable email marketing, copyright, and privacy requirements.
- Design and edit branded assets for print and digital channels, applying sound judgment to layout, typography, color, imagery, and accessibility.
- Coordinate photography, video, and other multimedia content for CBSA’s website, social channels, events, and YouTube presence.
- Create email campaigns in Salesforce Engagement.
- Collaborate with CBSA staff, subject-matter experts, and the external strategic communications firm to translate complex information into clear, compelling content.
- Manage relationships, contracts, and budgets for marketing vendors, platforms, and creative services.
- Establish campaign goals, analyze performance, share actionable insights, and continually improve marketing effectiveness.
Social Media
- Manage CBSA’s social media presence, engagement, and editorial calendar in alignment with the Strategic Communications Plan and organizational priorities
- Create, schedule, and publish timely, valuable content that celebrates and engages members and positions CBSA as the leader of Colorado’s life sciences ecosystem using creative approaches to content development and execution. Monitor channel performance, audience growth, engagement, and emerging opportunities; provide regular reporting and recommendations.
- Manage social media tools, paid campaigns, and related vendors or budgets as assigned.
Website + Digital Platforms
- Serve as the primary administrator of CBSA’s content management system and maintain accurate, current, and accessible website content, optimized for search engines and generative AI (SEO/GEO).
- Partner with staff, external communications advisors, and subject-matter experts to uphold content strategy, brand standards, and web best practices.
- Work with web vendors to improve usability, design, functionality, and content; coordinate troubleshooting and respond to user needs.
- Monitor website analytics and recommend changes that improve audience experience and organizational results.
- Manage website-related vendors, budgets, platform renewals, and domain names.
Event Marketing + Communications
- Develop integrated marketing plans that build awareness, registrations, attendance, and engagement for CBSA programs and signature events.
- Define target audiences, key messages, channels, timelines, calls to action, and performance goals for each event campaign.
- Own event promotion across email, social media, the CBSA website, digital advertising, newsletters, partner channels, and other appropriate platforms.
- Create event positioning, promotional copy, graphics, speaker announcements, sponsor recognition, signage, presentations, and digital assets.
- Maintain the event marketing calendar and coordinate campaign milestones with the Member Success & Events Manager.
- Ensure event details remain accurate and consistent across registration pages, the website, emails, social channels, printed materials, and mobile applications.
- Lead event-related media outreach, photography, video, live social coverage, and post-event storytelling when appropriate.
- Track campaign performance—including email engagement, website traffic, registration conversion, and social reach—and apply insights to future campaigns.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as organizational needs evolve.
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, content development, or a closely related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of grammar and the ability to adapt content for different audiences and channels.
- Experience managing integrated campaigns across email, social media, websites, and other digital channels.
- Strong visual judgment and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, Canva, or comparable professional design tools.
- Experience with content management systems such as WordPress and email marketing platforms such as Salesforce Account Engagement or similar tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, stakeholders, and changing priorities with accuracy and follow-through.
- Comfort using performance data to assess results, communicate insights, and improve future work.
- A collaborative, service-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, members, vendors, and external advisors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and video-conferencing tools.
- Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends and travel as needed for events and conferences.
Preferred
- Experience in an association, nonprofit, agency, life sciences, healthcare, or other mission-driven environment.
- Familiarity with customer relationship management or association management systems, preferably Salesforce Account Engagement and Engagement Studio.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS and experience coordinating with web developers.
- Experience with photography, video production, media relations, digital advertising, or event marketing.
Compensation + Benefits
Salary range: $65,000–$70,000 annually, commensurate with experience
