The General Services Director oversees a wide range of City services including fleet, facilities, operations and maintenance, solid waste and recycling, custodial, and parking operations. This role helps to set the direction for the department, manages long-term planning and budgets, and works closely with City leadership to ensure services run efficiently and meet community needs. The Director also supports staff development and leads efforts to improve how services are delivered. This executive position plays an important part in keeping the City running smoothly behind the scenes.

About the General Services Department:
The General Services Department was established in 2018 to provide high-quality internal support services that enable City departments to serve the community efficiently and cost-effectively. The department oversees a diverse range of functions, including fleet maintenance and acquisition, facilities maintenance, warehousing, project management, streets maintenance, storm system maintenance, right-of-way weed abatement, and enterprise operations such as parking, and solid waste and recycling. Committed to excellence, they deliver exceptional service with professionalism and integrity through continuous improvement and collaborative partnerships.

What You'll Do:

  • Plan, administer, and direct the operations and services of the General Services Department and subsequent divisions; set vision, mission, and long-range goals aligned with the City's strategic direction.
  • Lead high-level organizational planning efforts, including capital improvement projects, space planning, and asset management strategies.
  • Manage multimillion-dollar operating and capital budgets, identify long-term funding strategies and cost-saving measures, and ensure responsible, efficient use of public resources.
  • Serve as a key liaison to executive leadership, elected officials, regulatory agencies, and the public.
  • Lead strategic partnerships and cross-department efforts to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction; oversee the negotiation, management, and evaluation of contracts with external providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, operations, construction, or public administration, including at least three (3) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility; public sector experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
