Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is seeking a part-time contractor as an on-air host / audio producer for Indie 102.3.
About the Position:
The Host / Producer will deliver listener-focused, engaging, personable, knowledgeable, timely and topical programming centered on alternative and indie music, including both current and classic music across multiple genres. You’ll host regular weekly airshifts on Indie 102.3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays (which can be tracked in advance). Other weekday and/or weekend hours may be needed, up to a maximum of 10 additional hours per week.
The new hire is expected to reside in the Denver Metro upon starting – this is not a remote position. For all contractors based within 25 miles of our offices in Centennial, Colorado, work will be based in-office.
About You:
You’re an avid indie and alternative music lover. You appreciate various, diverse genres and know both classic and current indie and alternative music well. You have a hunger or curiosity for music discovery. You enjoy staying current on music news, events and issues. You have excellent communication skills and an authentic, engaging presence. You’re collaborative and approachable and are able to connect with a broad range of people. You’re an adaptable person, open to new ideas and able to adjust your plans to meet the changing needs of CPR. You are results focused, prioritize tasks well, and have high standards for your work. You listen well to others and value teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of music radio hosting experience that must include using playback software (Zetta/Zetta2Go preferred).
- Knowledge of and passion for alternative and indie music, both current and classic across multiple genres.
- Dynamic presence with exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Must be punctual and reliable in adhering to a set work schedule.
- General PC computer competency. Familiarity with audio editing software and web publishing software is preferred.
- A familiarity with the Colorado music scene is preferred.

Record an air check for us and send one audio file (must be an mp3 or mp4) to Amanda. This audio clip should be no longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Be sure to listen back to be sure the audio is recorded and saved properly! Below are the guidelines to follow.
Record three mock host "breaks". They can be of varying lengths, so long as all three together total up to 2 minutes, 30 seconds max (Only send one audio file – do not send 3 separate files!). Don't worry about including music.

b) Tell anything about the last or next song to relate to an audience member in their mid twenties

An easy way to record audio is by using a voice memo app on your smartphone. There are various free apps on Apple and Android. Or, use your laptop or desktop. We just need to be able to hear you clearly.
