The Colorado Municipal League (CML) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization representing 270 of Colorado’s 272 municipalities and has been in existence since 1923. Legislative & Policy Advocate

CML is recruiting candidates for the position of Legislative & Policy Advocate. The position will research, analyze, disseminate information, and advocate municipal positions and policies on issues before the Colorado General Assembly, state agencies, and other public and private organizations for the benefit of the League’s members. Additionally, the position will: author articles, summaries, or other relevant communications to members on advocacy issues as assigned by the Legislative Advocacy Manager; develop and maintain relationships with legislators, lobbyists, state agencies, and others; represent CML and serve as liaison to specific advisory boards and committees; participate in CML annual conference program development, membership services and outreach activities; and research and respond to inquiries from members, media and others.

 

The successful candidate will be a team player, an excellent communicator, a relationship builder, and possess high moral and ethical standards. He or she will assist the CML legislative advocacy team in accomplishing its goals of year-round advocacy and providing enhanced value to CML members through collaboration with other departments of the League. 

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, journalism, or related field, as well as a minimum of two years relevant experience in local government, legislative advocacy, or other government-related experience. A graduate degree in a related field is highly desirable. Additional experience in subjects of municipal or other local government interests is desirable. 

Salary range: $73,600 – $110,400. CML offers an excellent benefits package.
