Position Summary:
In support of Wilderness Workshop’s (WW) mission to protect public lands, the Marketing and Philanthropy Manager provides foundational support to the organization’s fundraising and membership programs and implements WW’s event and email marketing activities. The Marketing and Philanthropy Manager collaborates with the Operations Director and Philanthropy Director to provide dedicated development support, including designing and implementing annual fundraising appeals, membership renewals, and engagement strategies for donors who give up to $750 annually. The Marketing and Philanthropy Manager leads WW’s business sponsorship program, supports the planning and implementation of fundraising and donor stewardship events, and maintains WW’s donor database. The Marketing and Philanthropy Manager manages the organization’s communications and social media calendar. In partnership with the Communications Manager, the Marketing and Philanthropy Manager facilitates the development and production of WW’s print materials, including the bi-annual newsletters and annual report, and digital assets, including WW’s website and social media accounts.
Primary Responsibilities:
Membership and Development Support
- Support all aspects of WW’s fundraising campaigns, including membership drives and renewal mailings, year-end appeals, donor stewardship events, and other special fundraising campaigns.
- Support the Philanthropy Director in donor outreach, gift acknowledgement, and membership management.
- Work with the Philanthropy Team to create and implement fundraising initiatives, materials, and engagement strategies. This includes creation and maintenance of fundraising webpages to ensure content matches overall fundraising strategies.
- Act as primary point of contact for members giving up to $750 annually.
- Implement WW’s membership program with engagement at various donation levels.
- Oversee WW’s business sponsorship program, including cultivating and maintaining relationships with businesses, ensuring proper recognition, and connecting business sponsors with WW’s conservation, community, and philanthropic work and events.
- Support coordination of all grant writing activities and manage WW’s grant reporting schedule and funder portals.
- In collaboration with the Philanthropy and Engagement Teams, ensure timely data entry of new supporters after events and new-member packet mailings occur on a regular basis.
Marketing and Community Engagement
- Under the direction of the Philanthropy Director and Operations Director, support the planning and implementation of community, donor, and membership events.
- Engage WW’s membership by participating in external community events and overall organizational branding and communication efforts.
- In collaboration with the Engagement Team, implement marketing, promotion and digital registration for all WW-hosted events.
- Under the direction of the Communications Manager and program staff, execute action alerts, e-mails, and other member communications in support of WW’s conservation work and campaigns.
- Act as project manager for WW’s communications calendar, bi-annual newsletters, annual report, and other printed materials.
- Under the direction of the Communications Manager, manage the creation, storage, and maintenance of all WW’s communication assets and platforms including photos, videos, websites, and social media accounts.
Desired Qualifications:
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in nonprofit environment, business marketing, sales or related fields.
- Proactive time management and project management skills.
- Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, professionalism, ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience coordinating and marketing successful community and/or fundraising events.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Collaborative spirit and experience working in a team environment.
- Outgoing, personable, enthusiastic, and fearless.
- Experience and comfort working with people of widely diverging backgrounds, cultures, political beliefs, and socio-economic strata.
- Commitment to public lands conservation.
- English language skills required; Spanish language skills preferred.
Desired Technical Skills:
- Strong and creative writing, editing, design and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Meta Business Suite, and other communication tools.
- Strong proficiency in WordPress, website editing, and management.
- Experience with databases or constituent relationship management software.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Lightroom, and InDesign.
- Photography and videography creation and editing skills.
Benefits
The salary range for the Marketing and Philanthropy Manager is $62,000-77,000. Compensation will reflect the applicant’s qualifications and previous experience. We believe time in the field is motivating, inspiring and critical to our success as advocates – and we create space for our employees to experience the places we are working to protect. Relocation support is also available for qualified candidates who are ready to move to our mountain community.
