Jacobs has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced Public Information Officer to support our outsourced Public Works contract with the City of Centennial, CO. In the role, you will provide a wide variety of communications and public engagement support across Public Works Service areas.
The ideal candidate will exercise sound judgment, handles complex and sensitive issues with professionalism and work independently to achieve assignment outcomes. This position serves as a key liaison between City departments, the public, and Jacobs project staff, providing responsive, accurate and effective communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducts research, writes reports, creates forms, and prepares correspondence to support Jacobs service areas
• Reviews the City’s website regularly to identify and coordinate updates.
• Coordinates communications for special projects and/or events.
• Plans, facilitates and participates in public meetings; facilitates small group sessions; attends policy meetings, executive staff meetings, and conferences with professional organizations.
• Facilitates delivery of communication plans for Public Works projects, programs and policies that are multichannel, maintaining digital accessibility for people with disabilities.
• Develops and distributes public information materials, including press releases, media advisories, websites, fact sheets, newsletters, brochures, reports, mailers, surveys, informational publications and other public-facing project collateral and informational tools, including crisis management.
• Works collaboratively with co-workers across departments and with other government agencies.
• Maintains accurate files, records, databases and contact lists; generates reports as needed.
• Conducts research and gathers information for outreach about upcoming and ongoing projects.
• Supports in department- and citywide outreach events as assigned.
• Supports the client with journalist interface.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Here's what you'll need
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in public affairs, public information, editorial, television, public relations, digital engagement or similar work.
• Working knowledge of Graphic design and social media platforms i.e., NextDoor, Twitter, Facebook.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Outlook) and the ability to operate other standard office equipment.
• Support the client Website data systems.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with employees, government officials, and the public.
• Must possess and maintain a current driver’s license with no major infractions.
• Must be capable of driving a company vehicle in the performance of the duties contained herein.
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
• Associate’s degree in office communications, Administration, Business, or specialized general office or clerical training.
• Vast knowledge of government or municipal services in Public Works, Code Enforcement, Police and Fire services.

The base salary range for this position is $82,000.00 to $82,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
