Senior Lobbyist
Brandeberry-McKenna Public Affairs (BBMK) is creating a full-time, senior lobbyist position in support of its growing public affairs business.

Summary:

The senior lobbyist will serve and support all aspects of BBMK’s lobbying and public affairs practice in Colorado.  The position is based in Denver, Colorado, and is a singular opportunity to join what is widely recognized as one of the leading public affairs firms in the state.  The position will advance the public affairs objectives of BBMK’s diverse client base, composed of Fortune 500 corporations, leading business/trade associations, nonprofits, and prominent government entities.  As expected, the senior lobbyist position entails a high-visibility, high-impact role with the firm, most critically in the areas of client satisfaction, business success, and civic good. The annual base salary for the position is $115,000- $ 140,000, with potential for bonuses.
Requirements:
Candidates for the senior lobbying position will have the following capabilities and qualifications:

  • Minimum four years of professional experience in a senior lobbying/public affairs role at the Colorado state legislative level
  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution; graduate degrees in public affairs/administration, law, and/or related fields are highly desirable
  • A record of demonstrating the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
  • Exceptional skills in professional interaction, persuasion, and collaboration  
  • A highly developed commitment to delivering client satisfaction and care
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of Colorado legislative, regulatory, and rulemaking processes
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex and contentious legislative initiatives at the state government level
  • Deep understanding of core state policy issues, including budget/finance/TABOR, health care and insurance, land use and environment, transportation and housing, as well as business and employment.
  • A proven record of delivering desired outcomes in the legislative process through the development of realistic and winning strategies, skillful negotiation, and effective tactical execution
  • A driving commitment to excellence for the benefit of the firm, clients, stakeholders, and the state of Colorado
  • Dedication to understanding the dynamics of small business success, along with a strong team-centered and consensus-oriented professional ethos

Performance Factors:

  • Delivering desired outcomes for BBMK clients
  • Creating workable and salient legislative strategies through written or verbal policy communications
  • Effectively managing complex and shifting stakeholder environments
  • Building and enhancing relationships among all key professional contacts, including clients, public officials, policy staff, government leaders, and public affairs colleagues
  • Contributing demonstrable value to the financial and professional growth of the firm
  • Forging a high-visibility professional profile through involvement in activities outside of but related to the state legislative process (e.g., campaigns/elections, non-profit organizations, professional groups, leadership academies, etc.)
  • Demonstrating high-level skills in all forms of client and stakeholder communications, including written, oral, social media, video, and presentations

Compensation Package:

  • Annual salary in line with other senior-level public affairs positions, based in part on the candidate’s level of experience and record of success
