Job Summary
Manages multiple, complex events and conferences which advance the overall strategic mission of the college. Assists with other large-scale events. Provides leadership and supports the events team in the absence of the Assistant Vice President, College Events.
Responsibilities
• Review and execute RFPs and contracts for events and conferences proposed by external clients; screen prospective clients and work with them to develop a budget for their events; coordinate all logistics and services to implement the contracted events.
• Periodically research and assess rates and fees to ensure they are competitive and aligned with peer institutions.
• Generate and verify all invoices to clients and invoices for payment from clients, resolve questions; track payments, and work closely with the AVP to report, collect, and record revenue.
• Directly supervise one full-time staff; determine necessity of, hire and supervise temporary staff to assist with conferences and other events as needed.
• Manage budget of approximately $500,000.
• Promote a campus environment and relationships with the community that reflects inclusion and respect for diversity and equitable practices.
• Serve as liaison to food service, housing, and custodial service providers concerning quality control standards of all campus events.
• Serve as a liaison with the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau and attend monthly coordination meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of related and progressively responsible leadership experience in event planning or a related field. Results oriented with experience in budget planning and forecasting; strong business acumen, organizational and collaborative skills with keen judgment and attention to detail; excellent written communication skills; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse populations and from different cultural backgrounds and to understand and apply antiracism terminology and best practices; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified meeting planner certification; Experience working in event planning in higher education.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:
- Band F; $56,116 to $67,337 per year
