About this Job: You will play a key role of the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Services department by managing all aspects of event and program planning for City-wide events and events held within City-owned park sites. In this position you will make a real impact in the community by overseeing the operations of event planning for the City.
As an Analyst II, you will:
- Administer reservation and permitting processes for commercial filming, block parties, vendors, and all city-owned parks.
- Serve as liaison between event promoters and the City of Colorado Springs
- Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of special events coordinated within the City; measure, report, and analyze results of events
- Provide on site supervision of large-scale events; monitor and improve the quality of the event services
- Coordinate internal department events such as Get Outdoors Day, Park and Rec Month, ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, festivals, and other department celebrations
- Manage invoice creation and payment tracking for all events
- Facilitate collaborative planning discussions with park personnel and coordinate site visits to ensure all events run smoothly
- Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of special event development and administration
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive event planning program.
- Principles, practices, and techniques involved in managing and evaluating special events.
- Business development, solicitation, and recruitment of events in new markets.
- Community relations, marketing, contract administration, public relations, and public speaking.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals
- Research, analyze, and evaluate new service delivery methods and techniques
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, communications, marketing,or other related fields
- Three years of full-time professional analytical experience in special events planning and management or a similiar area

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced level experience managing licenses and permits for events
- Experience with insurance documents and understanding of insurance requirements
- Experience with vendor management
- Experience with invoicing and tracking, specifically in PeopleSoft Finance
- Experience using online special event booking platforms
