As a PR Associate, you will create engaging content for newsletters, blogs, social media, bylines, award nominations and more. You will help businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and foundations build their reputations through media pitching, social media management and other PR tactics. You will also execute digital communications initiatives from planning to implementation, managing budgets, optimizing content/ads and tracking results.

As a PR Associate, you will develop compelling content for newsletters, blogs, social media, byline articles, award nominations and more. You will also help businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and foundations build their reputations through media pitching, social media management and other creative PR tactics. Additionally, you will implement digital communications initiatives from planning through implementation, focusing on building/managing budgets, optimizing content/ads and tracking/reporting on outcomes. You must have an interest in both nonprofit and corporate storytelling. The keys to your success in this role are creativity, attention to detail, strong writing skills and collaboration.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supports media relations through list building, pitching and monitoring 
  • Contributes to building and implementing digital marketing campaigns, partnering with the Director of PR to ensure quality control and deliverables are met for each client
  • Partners with PR and Design team members to create and post compelling social media content
  • Develops collaborative working relationships with local and regional media
  • Drafts persuasive press releases, pitches, announcements, talking points, award nominations, blogs, byline articles, website content, etc.
  • Researches and recommends paid advertising/digital budgets, sets goals, identifies measurement metrics and implements owned and paid digital campaigns
  • Responds to social media posts to boost engagement and crafts content based on a social media plan 
  • Participates in client support through meetings, conference calls and relationship building
  • Works in collaboration with the team to ensure work is tracked and deliverables are met for each client
  • Keeps up with social media trends, digital engagement, email marketing, social ad campaigns, digital display advertising, search engine marketing, targeting, optimization and measurement

Job Requirements 

  • Excellent writing skills and a knowledge of AP Style
  • 1-3 years of PR/marketing experience, media relations experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of various digital communications platforms and tactics, including Google Adwords, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, Meta platforms, LinkedIn, YouTube, digital engagement, advertising, media relations, content creation, etc.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Asana, Slack and Airtable
  • Outcomes-focused and driven to “get things done”
  • Ability to solve problems and find answers to tough questions
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with people from diverse ethnic, educational and professional backgrounds
  • Driven to deliver a high-quality product, to support team members in their success and help grow the business
