The Colorado Business Roundtable (COBRT) is seeking a results-oriented independent contractor to serve as Director of Business Engagement. The Director of Business Engagement is accountable for growing COBRT’s membership through targeted opportunity development, strategic partnership cultivation, and execution of a strong pipeline that secures new partners in 2026.

Description

Working closely with the President, the Director of Business Engagement will engage Colorado businesses and C-suite leaders to advance COBRT’s mission and its belief that business is a force for good. With an established pipeline already in place, this contractor will play a key role in expanding COBRT’s reach across the broader business community.

This contract role offers meaningful exposure to senior leaders, substantive policy conversations, and the inner workings of a mission-driven organization.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and execute a targeted partner recruitment strategy that prioritizes prospects within COBRT’s existing pipeline while generating new leads through strategic outreach, networking, and engagement—converting qualified prospects into new COBRT partners
  • Establish and manage a consistent system of touchpoints with prospective partners
  • Maintain and manage COBRT’s database of priority prospects
  • Meet with interested partners via Zoom or in person to advance partnership conversations
  • Coordinate initial onboarding of new partners with the COBRT team to ensure a strong and welcoming introduction

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Bring:

 

  • Mission alignment: Passion for advancing COBRT’s belief that business is a force for good by fostering a robust network of leaders across academia, business, community, and government to drive practical, long-term solutions for Colorado.
  • Proven experience: 5+ years in business development, partnership engagement, or B2B sales with a demonstrated record of success
  • Self-direction: Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight, leveraging an established professional network and personal tools
  • Technical fluency: Advanced proficiency with CRM platforms along with strong presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills: Exceptional communication abilities, resilience, and refined negotiation skills

Contract Details
Engagement Type: Independent contractor (1099); not an employee position
Compensation: Monthly retainer with performance-based bonus opportunities
Work Structure: Flexible, outcomes-focused engagement typical of a contractor arrangement
