The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the premier international membership association for physicians, researchers, and medical professionals, who are dedicated to conquering lung and thoracic cancers worldwide. We are currently seeking an Accountant I (Staff Accountant) to join our team of dedicated professionals.
Day to day, the Accountant supports core accounting functions including month-end reconciliations, general ledger review and internal financial reporting. The Accountant needs to understand and apply GAAP principles to an audited organization. Primary responsibilities include assisting with month-end close and processing invoices in Bill.com. Main accounting systems used are Sage Intacct accounting software and Bill.com.
The Accountant must be an organized self-starter with extreme attention to detail, who can effectively work on a collaborative finance team and prioritize workload to meet established timelines.
This nonsupervisory, exempt position is physically based in our downtown Denver, CO office on a hybrid work schedule. This position reports to the Controller.
In this role, you will:
- Receive, review, and process a high volume of vendor invoices.
- Manage end-to-end invoice workflow within Bill.com, including invoice capture, routing for approval, and payment set up.
- Ensure Bill.com synchronizes properly with Sage Intacct and investigate any errors or discrepancies to take appropriate corrective actions.
- Manage various travel stipend and reimbursement payments requested by employees, programs, & departments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records in both Sage and Bill.com, including contact information, payment terms, and W-9/tax documentation
- Onboard new vendors by collecting required documentation and completing internal setup processes in Sage Intacct.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including supporting the automation of these processes.
- Support external audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Demonstrate responsibility for assigned projects and duties Accountable for for using effective problem-solving and communication skills to work through issues and for keeping Controller and appropriate parties informed of any concerns.
- Actively support and demonstrate IASLC core values.
A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Proven knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and standard accounting processes and procedures and internal controls.
- Proficiency in the use of Sage Intacct or another ERP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel as well as standard Microsoft Office programs.
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
- Ability to clearly and accurately communicate and present financial information, orally and in writing, across the organization
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong aptitude for numerical accuracy.
- Collaborative, internal customer service approach to working with the Finance team and other staff members.

- Compensation: $65,000-$72,000 annually, depending on related experience and education.
