The Director is responsible to provide strong leadership, communication, strategic thinking and planning skills to the Public Works Department which includes Road and Bridge, Facilities Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Project Engineering, the Fairgrounds and the Noxious Weed sub-department service programs. Routt County operates from three district shops and with the assistance of the District Foremen, the Director sets and manages the annual operational priorities. The Director manages the construction and maintenance of physical infrastructure including both short and long-term planning for asset management and capital improvement and replacement. The Director is responsible for development and management of the annual operating, capital and controllable asset budgets. Takes responsibility for ensuring open communication and coordination of Public Works services with community stakeholders and other entities. The work efforts of this position require significant planning, accountability and decision-making responsibilities.
