Position Summary:The CU System Office of Advancement provides excellent customer service, strategy, expertise, and efficiency to our partners on CU’s campuses and at the University of Colorado Foundation. We support CU’s fundraising and engagement goals through advancement operations that include constituent research and development, data management, business intelligence, technical architecture, annual giving, planned giving, gift administration, marketing and communications, IT, budget and finance, and more. The Digital Marketing & Engagement Administrator designs and deploys email marketing campaigns using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud to help fulfill the University of Colorado’s fundraising and engagement goals. It will also help the university prepare for the forthcoming integration of a Marketing Cloud Salesforce org with a donor fundraising Salesforce org.
Primary duties include creating email marketing campaigns, designing journeys and automated workflows, helping stakeholders develop more sophisticated email marketing campaigns, developing data analyses of campaign effectiveness, and designing and evaluating tests of user interaction. Alongside other colleagues, this role will also contribute to the integration of two Salesforce orgs: (1) eComm, which uses Marketing Cloud and Cvent, and (2) Ascend, which is CU’s donor and fundraising CRM. This integration will considerably expand CU’s ability to engage its constituents and build more meaningful relationships between the university and its donors who give passionately to support it.
Where You Will Work:The CU System Office of Advancement follows a “flexibility first” approach to work that defines how we manage and make use of in-person time. As a fully remote position, this role will work remotely with the exception of four separate callback weeks per year— when all our colleagues are expected to be together in the office. During callback weeks, this role is expected to work from the CU System office at 1800 Grant St. in Denver, Colorado. Any additional in-office time will be determined by this roles direct manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:Campaign Development, Management, & Analysis
- Design, build, and execute email marketing campaigns using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud to help fulfill CU’s fundraising and engagement goals.
- Develop and manage automated workflows using Journey Builder and other functionality to help CU nurture relationships with donors, alumni, patients, and other constituents.
- Create dynamic audience segments using filtered data extensions, Automation Studio queries, and Salesforce reports.
- Support the implementation and use of Salesforce and Marketing Cloud functionality to enhance existing fundraising and engagement marketing campaigns.
- Research and develop methods for testing user interaction, like A/B testing and other experiences.
- Assist in creating data reports and visualizations to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide input for future improvements. Apply UI/UX knowledge to create engaging and pleasing communications that resonate with recipients and drive them to a call to action.
- Ensure alignment with university branding guidelines.
Technical Development, Innovation, & Continuous Learning
- Assist in optimizing existing Salesforce and Marketing Cloud applications to support effective campaign execution and improve constituent engagement.
- Work with technical teams to support and maintain current capabilities while preparing for new system features. Participate in continuous learning initiatives by supporting the adoption of new technical tools and approaches, including basic applications of artificial intelligence. Contribute to improving data-driven constituent segmentation and engagement.
- Help manage and optimize data within Salesforce and Marketing Cloud, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Support testing, documentation, and maintenance of marketing applications and tools, including developing new processes, identifying and solving issues, and creating technical and user support documentation.
Salesforce Org Integration
- Assist in preparing for the integration of the Marketing Cloud Salesforce org that is used for email/event communications with the Ascend Salesforce org that is used for fundraising and donor data.
- Assist in evaluating existing processes to address stakeholder needs and provide support for implementing updates as directed to prepare for integration opportunities.
- Provide support for integration tasks to help the team maintain consistent email engagement services and constituent marketing strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assist in implementing a multi-org architecture within Marketing Cloud and support data and technical architecture tasks as needed. Support the refinement of data models and structures that enable better constituent insights.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
- Work with stakeholders to support alignment with established university goals and strategies. Create training initiatives, such as "lunch & learn" Zoom sessions, to spark ideas and educate stakeholders across the university.
- Provide excellent customer service and day-to-day support to stakeholders who request Digital Marketing assistance to design, build, and execute email communication campaigns – often in partnership with CU’s University Information Services (UIS) team.
- Help regularly refine the Digital Marketing team’s service catalog to accurately communicate the services the team provides to university stakeholders. Participate in refinement of the structure and direction of the Digital Marketing team to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
What We Offer:Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $87,000 – $93,000.
CU System Administration takes into consideration a combination of the selected candidate’s education, training and experience as it relates to the position, as well as the position’s scope and complexity, internal pay equity and external market value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent experience (education requirement may be substituted by professional experience on a year for year basis).
- Three (3) years’ experience using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud to design, build, and execute email marketing campaigns with experience in Email Studio, Journey Builder, Content Builder, Automation Studio, and Einstein.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical Proficiency
- Proficient with Salesforce and Marketing Cloud, including Email Studio, Journey Builder, Content Builder, Automation Studio, Einstein, and Marketing Cloud Connect.
- Strong understanding of CRM systems, data models, and integration with Salesforce and Marketing Cloud, especially in the context of multi-org environments.
- Familiarity with Cvent and its integration with Salesforce for event and constituent engagement.
- Proficiency in HTML for email customization.
- Familiarity with AMPscript and SQL or technical capability for learning them.
- Knowledge of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and data privacy and ability to communicate and enforce applicable processes with users in a decentralized structure.
