The Collaborative Action Director is a key member of the Backbone Team responsible for leading all Wallace Foundation–funded collaborative action and High Impact Project (HIP #1) work. This role serves as the primary architect, convener, and day-to-day leader of RMP’s cross-sector system redesign efforts focused on reimagining out-of-school time (OST) and youth career navigation.

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Collaborative Action

WORK LOCATION: RMP’s satellite office at Community Reach Center (1870 W 122nd Ave, Westminster, CO 80234), remote online work from home and designated locations within the community. Must be available for in-person work during business hours and occasional evenings and weekends.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Collaborative Action Director is a key member of the Backbone Team responsible for leading all Wallace Foundation–funded collaborative action and High Impact Project (HIP #1) work. This role serves as the primary architect, convener, and day-to-day leader of RMP’s cross-sector system redesign efforts focused on reimagining out-of-school time (OST) and youth career navigation.

During 2026, the Collaborative Action Director leads the six-month Design Phase that produces a co-owned Pilot Plan — orchestrating governance, youth, family, practitioner and cross-sector engagement; research and data integration; partner alignment; and monthly decision-making cycles as outlined in RMP’s Wallace/HIP Design Phase Workplan.

Following completion of the Pilot Plan, this role transitions to leading ongoing pilot launches, implementation, continuous improvement, and system-scale execution of the HIP #1 work.

This role is central to delivering measurable cradle-to-career results, advancing youth civic leadership, and building durable cross-sector systems that improve outcomes for thousands of young people. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Phase Leadership and Project Management

  • Lead and orchestrate the six-month Design Phase that produces the community co-designed Pilot Plan for HIP #1.

  • Convene and support governance and decision-making bodies

  • Ensure monthly objectives, activities, and decision cycles are executed on schedule.

  • Coordinate ecosystem mapping, youth listening, data audits, and research partnerships.

  • Guide co-design of vision, priorities, pilot architecture, navigation models, and OST system design.

  • Manage interdependencies across data, communications, funding, research, and partner engagement.

  • Surface risks, bottlenecks, and contingencies and lead adaptive problem-solving.

  • Ensure youth and frontline practitioners hold real power in shaping design decisions.
    Produce clear documentation, decision logs, and design outputs culminating in a Pilot Plan ready for launch.
     

Pilot Launch & Execution Leadership and Project Management

  • Lead implementation of the Pilot Plan, including partner coordination, staffing models, and launch readiness.

  • Oversee pilot operations, partner performance, and continuous improvement cycles.

  • Manage learning agendas, data collection, and evaluation in partnership with research entities.

  • Support scaling and system expansion beyond the pilot as HIP #1 evolves.

  • Ensure fidelity to design principles while adapting based on real-world feedback.
     

Cross-Sector Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with school districts, municipalities, nonprofits, employers, funders, and community leaders.

  • Serve as the primary convener for collaborative action tables and working groups including: meeting scheduling and preparation/strategy; documentation of outcomes; and follow-up and accountability after meetings.

  • Align partner efforts toward shared cradle-to-career outcomes.

  • Represent RMP’s HIP #1 work in community, regional, and national spaces.
     

Strategy, Communication & Alignment

  • Translate complex system design into clear narratives for partners, funders, and community members.

  • Coordinate communications strategies related to the Design Phase and pilot work including: ongoing partnership communications; responding to stakeholder inquiries; and acting as primary information hub for the initiative.

  • Align local work with on-going and evolving state efforts to reduce fragmentation in the ecosystem.

  • Align HIP #1 activities with broader RMP organizational priorities and investor strategies.

  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership, board, and funders.
     

Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as a senior member of the Backbone Team.

  • Contribute to organizational strategy, culture, and capacity-building.

  • Support development of staff and managers engaged in collaborative action work.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading complex cross-sector initiatives, collective impact efforts, or system-change projects.

  • Proven experience designing and facilitating multi-stakeholder planning or co-design processes.

  • Experience managing implementation of multi-partner initiatives from design through execution.

  • Experience working in or commitment to learning the RMP region.
     

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Deep commitment to RMP’s mission and systems transformation.

  • Exceptional facilitation, convening, and partnership-building skills.

  • Ability to design and manage complex, multi-phase workplans with clear decision structures.

  • Strong project management and organizational abilities – experience with Asana and other project management software.

  • Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to use AI strategically and in combination with critical thinking to advance and accelerate work.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, adaptive planning, and iterative learning.

  • Experience integrating youth voice and community power into decision-making.

  • Data-informed mindset; ability to partner effectively with research and evaluation teams.

  • Self-directed, collaborative, and solutions-oriented.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work Environment:
    This role involves a combination of remote work, in-office work at RMP’s main location, and participation in meetings at community spaces. Most work will occur during standard business hours, with occasional evening or weekend commitments.     To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, operate a computer, drive a vehicle, and occasionally lift or move items over 10 pounds. COMPENSATION

RMP offers a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience and skills. The starting salary range for this position is $90,000–$100,000. This role offers flexibility with scheduling and a comprehensive benefits package that includes a Simple IRA retirement plan with employer match; health, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; accidental death and dismemberment insurance; long-term disability coverage; paid holidays; and paid time off.
