Description
The Director of Volunteers at Children’s Hospital Colorado leads the development and execution of volunteer programs and services, including the Association of Volunteers Board of Directors, Gift Shops/La Cache, Creative Play, Welcome Program and the Family Resource Centers/Family Respite Rooms. This role has responsibilities across the System of Care, collaborating with organizational leaders to design and implement initiatives to optimize the experience of volunteers in service to patients/families, team members and visitors. The Director ensures all volunteer services and programming align with CHCO’s operational goal and strategic initiatives and contributes to the safe, efficient and effective operations of the organization.
Responsibilities

Develops and implements a systemwide strategic plan with annual goals, performance metrics, and work plans to guide volunteer services in alignment with operational strategies supporting patients and families across the System of Care.

Collaborates with CHCO leaders and the Association of Volunteers Board of Directors to develop and deploy strategic and operational initiatives that enhance volunteer programs and support the patient and family experience.

Leads communications on volunteer strategy, initiatives, and key updates, maintaining strong relationships across divisions, senior leadership, and the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation.

Oversees customer service standards for volunteer programs, handles escalations, and champions a culture that aligns with CHCO’s values and operational goals.

Assigns and reviews goals for volunteer leaders and staff, provides coaching and training, manages performance, and makes staffing decisions including hiring and discipline.

Develops and monitors the volunteer services budget, ensuring financial alignment with system priorities.

Reviews and approves changes to internal processes, driving improvements to maintain consistent and effective volunteer services across the System of Care.

Manages complex projects related to volunteer programs, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring best practices.

Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations affecting volunteer services.

Ensure consistent leadership presence by attending and actively participating in meetings and key functions across all assigned system locations to support alignment, communications, and operational effectiveness.
Scope and Level

Guidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated vision and objectives for the division.

Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured, and leader is responsible for developing, directing, and managing outcomes and multi-year strategies in order to achieve the objectives of the operation. Duties performed include operational planning; developing standards, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems; implementation of production and performance management standards; and allocating resources. Work is strategic and operational in nature.

Supervision Received: Under executive direction, the employee is delegated personal responsibilities and authorities over a division (or functional area within). Executives may review work for soundness of judgment and conclusion.
Salary Range: $104,305-$173,842 Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or a directly related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in healthcare/hospital administration, volunteer coordination, volunteer management, community relations or related area, plus three (3) years of leadership experience
Preferences: Previous experience working in healthcare/hospital management leading development and execution of volunteer programs and services
