What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The full pay range for this position is $96,275.00 – $158,854.00/year. Our starting salary range is $96,275.00 – $127,565.00/year, based on experience and education.

Location
The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field several days a week and telecommute at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.
In this position you can expect to work on site at least two days a week at the Republic Plaza at 370 17th Street, Denver, CO 80202
What You’ll Do
At the Department of Housing Stability, we are committed to support Denver residents as healthy, housed and connected. We invest resources, create policy, and partner with various organizations to help keep residents in the homes that they already live in, quickly resolve an experience of homelessness, and connect residents to new housing opportunities. To support these efforts, the department helps to:
- Stabilize residents at risk of involuntary displacement and connect residents to housing resources such as home repairs, rent and utility assistance, and legal support. This work is led by our Homelessness Resolution and Housing Stability Division.
- Support residents experiencing a crisis and connect them to housing, shelter and other services to get stabilized quickly. This work is led by our Homelessness Resolution and Housing Stability Division.
- Create and preserve existing affordable housing and connect residents at any income level to new housing opportunities through programs such as down-payment assistance or counseling services. This work is led by our Housing Opportunity Division.
- Support financial services, contracting and procurement, data analysis and strategic planning, administrative resources, and communications across the housing continuum. This work is led by our Operations Division.
The Marketing Communications Manager is part of our Operations Division.
We are seeking a highly professional, relational, and knowledgeable individual to serve in the role of Marketing Communications Manager to help lead communications and public information efforts. This highly organized, team-oriented and flexible individual will lead the crucial functions of coordinating the department’s high visibility communications activities that help inform HOST’s investment, programmatic and policy decisions. The Marketing Communications Manager is one of three HOST communications positions dedicated to advancing the department’s communications objectives while ensuring residents and the community can access information on the department’s efforts to address housing instability and homelessness, including information on how to access programs and services funded by HOST.
Specific duties of the Marketing Communications Manager will include:
- Lead and implement media relations strategy, including the fielding of a high volume of media requests on affordable housing and homelessness resolution, as well press release development/distribution and media pitching. Establish and maintain good working relationships with media representatives, act as HOST’s principal spokesperson by arranging press coverage for a variety of public events and community outreach efforts, prepare and coach other staff for media interviews, and oversee and coordinate the production and distribution of public information and announcements.
- Develop and update key messaging documents covering all of HOST’s public-facing programs, services and initiatives. Lead the department’s message development in a fast-paced environment, providing clarity in written materials for emergent issues. Prepare speeches and talking points on housing and homelessness issues for executive management.
- Develop and implement communications plans for various affordable housing and homelessness resolution programs and services. Lead communications activities geared toward a wide variety of audiences, including partner organizations, aspiring homeowners, residents and staff.
- Research, write and oversee the development of informational materials such as flyers, brochures, webpages, and other materials that promote HOST-funded programs/services and how residents can access services. This entails working in collaboration with partner organizations, including nonprofit contractors.
- Serve as primary staff member responsible for responding to all public records requested in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA). Assure legal compliance with CORA, work with staff members to research and review public records that are responsive to individual requests, and maintain appropriate records of all CORA activity. Counsel staff on records release requirements.
- Manage the work of professional staff engaged in the design, preparation, and production of public information materials, marketing, and public involvement programs. Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback and formally evaluate the work of the employee; provide reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance. Assist staff to achieve performance standards and identifies opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards.
- Represent the department in meetings with business and community-based organizations, elected and/or appointed officials, and other city entities. Serve as a city representative on various committees and fosters collaborative relationships that benefit the organization.

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included supervision of marketing and/or communications professionals.
- Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
- License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
