Job Summary The Enrollment Management division at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Assistant Director of Visitor Experience! This position provides leadership, cohesion, and operational management across CU Boulder’s group visit portfolio. This role supervises both the School Visit Program Coordinators, ensuring aligned innovative practices, visit accessibility, and inclusive; mission aligned programming across all grade levels. The Assistant Director strengthens pipelines, expands access, and creates innovative, experiential, and culturally responsive programming serving diverse student communities across Colorado.

The Assistant Director of Visitor Experience works closely with the Associate Director of Visitor Experience, Enrollment Management Marketing & Communications, Slate/CRM partners, Precollege Outreach & Engagement, academic units, and Student Ambassadors. The leader in this role brings an innovative, solution focused, and growth-minded approach that advances CU Boulder’s strategic goals and supports a unified, high-quality visitor experience.

Responsibilities What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Program Leadership & Experience Design
 

  • Provide unified leadership for school group visit programs serving primarily middle and high school students, with occasional support for elementary school visits, ensuring alignment, consistency, and developmentally appropriate program design across age groups.
  • Build, design, and refine experiential visit models including large group visits, cohort experiences, and virtual programming to support early college awareness and exploration.
  • Partner with Precollege Outreach & Engagement and campus partners to ensure culturally responsive, access centered programming for diverse communities.
  • In coordination with Marketing and Communication, oversee content development (presentations, tour paths, modules, youth engagement activities) to ensure quality and alignment with CU Boulder’s brand and recruitment priorities.
  • Pilot innovative visit formats and experiential modules to grow capacity and increase statewide reach.
  • Serve as the lead event manager for 2-3 large scale Visitor Experience event series per year.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of Week of Ralphie events to provide extended access to school visit programming.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale events hosted by Visitor Experience & Admissions Team. These events include but are not limited to Admitted Student Day, Admitted Buff Days, Explore CU Boulder, Week of Ralphie, and large visit days.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of specialized visits including transfer, access events, top scholar, and high school counselor events.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with school group educators, counselors, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Colleges, Schools, programs, government partners, academic units, and student services teams.
  • Participate in cross functional operational planning, staffing models, and peak day support.
  • Assist with information session delivery, tour presentation coverage, Counselor on Duty coverage, and ambassador training as needed.
  • Support the Center for Academic Success & Engagement Building (CASE) and tour operations requiring occasional Saturday coverage and Counselor on Duty rotations.
  • Review, approve, and monitor budget requests and expenditures within the group visit program portfolio, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with departmental priorities; maintain accountability for budget decisions in partnership with the Associate Director.
  • Partner with the CU system office to serve key demographics and populations aligned with the mission and vision of the university.
  • Partner with University Memorial Center (UMC) and Visitor Experience Team to submit the Event Management Form (EMF) process for all on‑campus Visitor Experience events and coordinate UMC & CASE bookings/reservations, including room set‑ups, catering orders, and accuracy verification.

Team Leadership, Supervision & Culture
 

  • Supervise the School Visit Program Coordinators through regular coaching, performance reviews, project support, and professional development.
  • Create a culture of innovation, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned with Visitor Experience values.
  • Provide indirect leadership to Student Ambassadors supporting middle and high school programs; collaborate on training in youth engagement, safety, and visitor engagement.
  • Promote reflection, psychological safety, and learning focused team norms.

Operations, Logistics & Project Management
 

  • Oversee school group reservations, scheduling, transportation coordination, communications workflows, campus partner participation, and day of program logistics.
  • Maintain operational excellence through risk mitigation, ADA accessibility, youth focused safety practices, and contingency planning.
  • Use Asana as the central project management platform to ensure task clarity, timelines, and campus partner coordination.
  • Parter with CASE team to coordinate space utilization, visitor flow, and high-volume day management.

Marketing, Communications & Slate/CRM Integration
 

  • Partner with Marketing & Communications on developmentally appropriate, brand aligned communications and materials for a variety of school group audiences.
  • Collaborate with the Slate/CRM Events team on event setup, registration workflows, templates, communication flows, and survey deployment.
  • Maintain consistent communication rhythms across school group programs to ensure clarity for educators, counselors, families, and students.

Data, Assessment & Continuous Improvement
 

  • Analyze attendance patterns, survey data, demographic insights, and operational trends to measure impact and identify opportunities.
  • Build iterative improvement cycles that strengthen program quality, inclusivity, and reach.
  • Prepare insights and recommendations for the Visitor Experience Associate Director.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and professional development opportunities.

Campus Collaboration, Representation, & Development
 

  • Represent Visitor Experience at campus, regional, and statewide convenings related to college access and youth engagement.
  • Support committees, task forces, and professional development that advance the department’s mission.
  • Attending Admissions Recruitment Kick-Off trainings and application reader training.
  • Serve on committees or task forces that advance Visitor Experience and enrollment goals.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Should Know

  • Occasional weekend work required for large scale events, or rotating CASE building coverage equating to roughly 2-3 times a semester.
  • In office presence expected at least 3-4 days per week, with approximately 70% of weeks requiring 4-5 days onsite.

What We Can Offer

  • The annual salary range is $72,000 – $74,000.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of related professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in youth programming, visitor experience, event management, outreach, or enrollment related roles.
  • Experience supervising full-time and/or student staff.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience working directly with middle school and/or high school populations.
  • Event or visit program management experience in higher education.
  • Proficiency with Slate/CRM and Asana.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.
