Operating as a mobile, self-contained content producer, the Backpack Journalist combines the responsibilities of a reporter, interviewer, writer, photographer, videographer, audio producer, and digital editor. The position manages the full storytelling process — from identifying and researching an idea through field production, editing, factchecking, publishing, and distribution across digital channels.
The News Editor will oversee editing and production and provide assignment and other support for The Gazette and assist editors at other Clarity publications. Additional duties may be assigned pending operational needs.
This role partners closely with subject matter experts, market leaders, and marketing team members to create thought leadership, website content, articles, client-focused resources, case studies, campaign content, and other communications that strengthen Merrick’s brand and position the firm as a trusted advisor.
