PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Salary range – $127,069.00 – $198,545.00
Salary to be commensurate with experience

Under direction from the Court Administrator, performs responsible managerial-level duties in the daily activities and operations of the Municipal Court and Detention Center.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Assist Court Administrator with management of probation, court information technology, marshal functions, detention center, and court services
-
Assist with implementing operational goals and objectives for the department, as well as approved policies and procedures
-
Serves as project coordinator and conducts research on assigned projects
-
Facilitates meetings for direct reports, other department staff, and designated projects
-
Assist with establishing and monitoring the departmental budget
-
Work with other agencies in the development, coordination and compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations pertaining to the municipal court administration and detention services
-
Represent the City in a variety of organizations
-
Performs other related duties as assigned
-
Provide leadership, mentoring, motivation and direction to department employees
-
May act as Court Administrator in their absence
-
Create and evaluate numerous statistical reports and requests, ability to identify tends, create detailed monthly and annual reports
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social sciences, business administration, finance, court management or related field
Experience:
-
At least five (5) years progressively responsible experience in a court environment
-
At least five (5) years of high level supervisory experience
-
At least five (5) years of experience in work involving familiarity with procedures, policies, law, and operations of a Court and Detention facility
Preferred Qualifications:
-
National Center for State Court (NCSC) Court management and Executive program
-
Michigan State University/CAMCA certification program
-
Masters in related field
-
Municipal Court experience preferred
-
Experience working with or in a detention center
Knowledge:
-
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of a municipal court
-
Experience with municipal management, budgeting, planning and regulatory requirements and practices
-
Experience with the operations of a detention center or facility
-
Collaborative leader with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city management, staff, and citizens
-
Creating, updating, and communicate policies and procedures
-
Office procedures, management practices, policies, laws, jury, and legal requirement pertaining to the Department
-
Recruitment, interviewing, evaluations, and addressing performance issues
-
Implementation of new technology, maintenance, and testing, working with IT department
-
Financial policies and procedures including cash handling

Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC)

Licenses and Certifications Required:

A valid Colorado Driver’s License with a good to excellent driving record is required.

My need Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification.
Essential Personnel:
-
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
-
Sedentary physical work that involves moving no more than 10 pounds at a time

Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing up to 20 pounds

Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
-
Vision for data analysis and preparation, and to read reports and other written materials and monitor controls, video equipment and prisoner activities
Work Environment:

Work is primarily indoors and sedentary, may requiring moderate walking
Equipment Used:

Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email, internet, Word, Excel and menu driven databases as a part of the Library automated systems
