ABOUT BRENT’S PLACE
At Brent’s Place—the cornerstone program of the Brent Eley Foundation (BEF)—our mission is to provide more than housing; we create a home away from home for families facing cancer or other
life-threatening illnesses. While their loved ones undergo treatment at local hospitals, we surround families with compassion, stability, and hope. Guided by our core values of compassion, integrity, respect, responsibility, and quality of life, we go beyond Safe-Clean accommodations to offer uniquely tailored programs and holistic support that nurture the entire family through their healing journey.
Joining our team means living these values every day and helping families find comfort, strength, and resilience during the most challenging times of their lives.
Who We Serve
We serve families with a loved one (children and adults) receiving bone marrow transplants, long-term oncology treatments, experimental treatments, and a wide range of other long-term medical crises. We work with physicians and hospital social workers to determine who needs our services.
Our Approach
At Brent’s Place, we believe healing extends beyond medical treatment. That’s why we provide a true home away from home for families facing life-threatening illness, built on four key pillars:
- Physical Well-Being – Brent’s Place is, above all, a Safe-Clean haven for families who are far from home seeking advanced medical treatments. We are one of the only long-term housing options capable of supporting an entire family during the long treatment process. Because we believe that together is always better, Brent’s Place helps families stay together so that they may simply be together.
-
Financial Security – Families staying at Brent's Place receive unlimited support, but never a bill. This allows them to focus on recovery and their family’s well-being rather than the steep cost of relocation, housing, and food. Reducing expenses during treatment has long-term benefits and enables families to return home with a greater sense of financial security.
-
Psychological Well-Being – Patients and families fighting serious illness face significant emotional trauma. The programs at Brent’s Place are designed to help each resident cope with the stress and anxiety associated with their medical journey. This support allows residents to focus on self-care and healing and may even help serve as protection against future mental health crises.
-
Family Life – A medical crisis has the power to break families apart, but Brent’s Place is here to protect them. We recognize that the continuation of everyday routines and family traditions provides stability for parents and children when their lives have been uprooted. We believe that offering families a warm and welcoming home away from home, as well as opportunities to create happy memories, builds love, trust, and resiliency. This foundation strengthens families during treatment – and for a lifetime.
When you join our team, you become part of this mission. Your work directly impacts families during the hardest moments of their lives—offering them strength, hope, and healing.
Position Overview
The Food and Hospitality Manager is a newly created, mission-critical role responsible for overseeing all food operations and experiences – current and future – at Brent’s Place. This is a rare opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up. As the Food and Hospitality Manager, you define how food, hospitality, and human connection come together to support families during a medical crisis. You inherit an exceptional foundation—a dedicated Chef, a thriving Grab N’ Go and Food pantry, committed volunteers, and three weekly meal services—and shape it into something even more impactful as Brent's Place prepares for significant growth, exploring opportunities such as a potential coffee shop and bodega.
Blending hands-on operational leadership with strategic thinking and implementation, the Food and Hospitality Manager supports and empowers volunteers, creates and strengthens systems and processes throughout food services, and prepares the program for significant future growth and increased impact on the family experience at Brent’s Place. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both day-to-day execution and long-term innovation.
This role goes beyond food service—it is about creating a comprehensive hospitality program that increases access to healthy food and beverages and delivers comfort, well-being, and a sense of home to families in medical crisis. The Food and Hospitality Manager plays a vital role in creating interactions and opportunities that help families experience happiness and stability.
