POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR GALLERY & MARKETING ASSOCIATE

General Description of Position:
The Gallery Associate is the first point of contact for visitors and plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, informative, and professional environment within the gallery. This position combines guest services, sales support, and light administrative tasks with marketing assistance, including content creation, social media coordination, and website updates. The ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, organized, punctual and comfortable multitasking in a dynamic art environment. Skills in Adobe Illustrator and/or Canva are highly desirable, along with creativity in graphic design, marketing support, and content development. This position will remain posted until filled.

Gallery and Administrative Duties:

  • Greet gallery visitors and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Answer questions and provide information about current exhibitions, artists, and artwork.
  • Assist with artwork sales, including coordinating purchases, processing transactions, and preparing sales documentation.
  • Answer and direct phone calls, respond to emails, and manage incoming/outgoing mail and packages.
  • Maintain records, prepare copies, and provide general office support.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of events, exhibition logistics and patron tours.
  • Support and assist with gallery wall patching and painting, gallery maintenance, signage and other build-out and art installation activities as needed in preparation for an exhibition or gallery rotation. 

Marketing & Social Media Duties:

  • Content Creation & Design: Assist executive staff with development of marketing materials, digital graphics, and visual assets using Adobe Illustrator and/or Canva.
  • Social Media Coordination: Coordinate social media accounts by assisting with the creation of engaging posts, scheduling content, monitoring activity, and responding to inquiries.
  • Website & Promotions: Assist with updating the organization’s website with events, press releases, and exhibition and program information; support email campaigns, digital newsletters, and printed collateral.
  • Marketing Support: Help implement promotional campaigns, track engagement, and support outreach strategies to grow audience reach and organization visibility.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in art, art history, museum studies, non-profit management, marketing, or communications is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok etc.); experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, or similar tools strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, ideally WordPress (no advanced technical skills required).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, or sales (gallery/museum settings preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction, self-direct and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of museum exhibition and art handling practices is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Some evening or weekend hours required for exhibition openings or special events (approx. 10 hours per month).
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with supervised artwork handling.

Schedule:

  • Part-time position: Tuesday–Thursday, 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM (21 hours/week).
  • Evening and weekend work as required for special events, announced no less than four weeks in advance.
  • Compensation: $20/hour (non-exempt).

Compensation & Benefits:
This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position at $20 per hour (approximately 21 hours per week). Free on-site parking and gym access is provided. This role does not include employer-sponsored health, retirement, or paid leave benefits beyond those required by law. Employees are covered under the organization’s workers’ compensation insurance in accordance with Colorado law.
