POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Head of Athlete Relations is a dynamic and experienced, visionary leader charged with
overseeing the strategic oversight of athlete engagement, brand development, media relations,
and community outreach for Team USA figure skaters. Key responsibilities include collaborating
across departments to craft and manage impactful communications, strengthening connections
within the athlete community, and supporting athletes’ professional development both during and
after their competitive careers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with Team USA athletes and their
representatives, understanding and responding to their evolving needs.
• Develop and execute athlete-focused branding and media strategies in collaboration with
marketing team.
• Plan and coordinate promotional events, appearances, and PR opportunities that enhance
athlete visibility and align with organizational strategic objectives.
• Partner with sponsorship department to secure licensing deals, endorsement opportunities,
and sponsorship collaborations, ensuring optimal brand alignment.
• Provide tailored support for athletes’ career transitions, including resume-building, skill
development, and career counseling.
• Work in partnership with Legal, High Performance, and Communications departments to
address and manage any crisis situations affecting athlete reputation.
• Work with athlete agents, parents and media representatives to support the athlete’s goals
and organizational objectives.
• Ensure all athlete-related activities comply with U.S. Figure Skating, USOPC, and ISU
regulations, maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of athlete engagements, contracts, financial
transactions, and any related legal matters.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above
to the highest level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill,
and/or ability needed to be a successful candidate.
• Bachelor’s degree
• Previous experience in sports management or related field
• In-depth knowledge of Olympic sports
• Proven ability to handle complex interpersonal relationships and manage conflicts
• Experience dealing with strong personalities while setting clear guidelines and priorities
• 8-10 years working in athlete relations, directly with athletes or proven experience with high
profile, competitive athletes
• Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Skills:
• Legal background
• 2-3 years sales & negotiation skills
COMPENSATION $90,000-$105,000
CLASSIFICATION Full-Time, Exempt
REPORTING REQUIREMENT Reporting to CEO, working closely with all Sr. Directors
