Job Title

Sr Director, Strategic Projects
As the Sr Director, Strategic Projects, you will provide leadership for the successful planning and execution of strategic manufacturing expansion and facility projects for the company. This is done through leading projects and providing direction and supervision to the Strategic Projects team. You will work in collaboration with senior-level executives, engineering, and project teams to enable manufacturing readiness across the company.

In this role, you will support multiple facilities globally in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and specification of equipment for overall facilities operation and production. Your responsibilities will include project planning, management, and execution of capital facilities and/or construction projects, and specialized facilities engineering work, delivered within budget, timeline, and per project requirements.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for greenfield/brownfield manufacturing facility builds and facility expansion projects in support of strategic growth initiatives. 
  • Perform project management to include preparing budgets, project execution, resolving work problems, recommending contract change orders, preparing progress reports, and reviewing invoices/authorizing payments.  Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated events.
  • Support manufacturing locations in the execution of substantial infrastructure upgrades and repairs, and provide technical support for the selection, operation and maintenance of non-production equipment and utilities such as cooling water, HVAC, wastewater treatment, air and vacuum systems.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and prepare reports communicating project status within and beyond the project team.
  • Apply working knowledge of principals, practices and procedures of the facilities engineering discipline in order to review and comment on engineering project work plans prepared by outside consultants for conformance to CoorsTek standards and specifications, and in the preparation of a variety of technical facilities engineering reports and analyses for presentation to management team.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Management for procurement of equipment, supplies, services, and specialized facilities work such as water utility, backflow prevention, alarm systems, etc. as required to execute facilities projects.  Help identify and qualify potential vendors.  Support SCM to optimize purchases to reduce total cost.
  • Support the Corporate Total Predictive Maintenance initiative by developing PM activities and schedules for critical infrastructure, and supporting software implementation at targeted facilities.
  • Support business unit Engineering groups in moving manufacturing process lines across factories, managing the physical movement of equipment, and recommending improvements to improve efficiency.
  • Assist Operations and Engineering in the selection of manufacturing equipment and support equipment for capacity expansion and new production processes.
  • Partner with Operations and Global Planning to develop business cases for facility optimization and rationalization decisions and to resource and execute these relocations and rationalizations as needed.
  • Coordinate the activities of all resources necessary for successful project completion, including plant personnel and corporate Subject Matter Experts for specific activities related to the project.  Liaise with other areas in the organization as needed to secure specialized resources and contributions.
  • Provide professional guidance and supervisory oversight for project leaders in the Strategic Projects team.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years of related work experience, preferably global in nature
  • Experience successfully leading and completing large facility projects for manufacturing or industrial processes
  • Experience leading and supporting subordinate project managers

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Conversant in construction terminology and methods; permitting requirements; electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment; safety protocols and standards.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, schematics and P&ID layouts, and various codes and specifications.
  • Excellent oral/written communications, including writing and presenting clear status reports.
  • Organizational expertise including team building and effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds, lead group decision making and mediate competing interests.

Role Specific Details:

  • Location: Golden, CO (hybrid)
  • Available to travel domestically or internationally as needed. Travel requirements could be sporadic but significant.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 162,172.00 – USD 222,986.00
