The Organization:
Denver South is both the geographic area along the I-25 highway and rail corridor south of Denver, and the organization of community and business leaders working to create an environment where businesses and workers thrive. The Position:
The Vice President of Operations & Finance is responsible for ensuring the operational excellence and financial health of the Denver South organization. This person will oversee and help ensure alignment between operational, financial, and administrative functions, helping the organization meet its strategic goals. This position reports to the President/CEO.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the organization's operational functions (Finance, HR, IT, Legal) and related vendors. This includes finances, budgets, personnel issues, HR, processes, and general risk management.
- Identifies and develops improvements to organizational and operational structures, including the selection and management of a variety of vendors servicing the business needs of the organization.
- In collaboration with President/CEO, oversees Denver South Director-Level staff. Assists with performance management.
- Serves as liaison with staff and leadership regarding organizational culture and employee well-being.
- Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.
- As available, represents the organization at a variety of community events relevant to the advancement of Denver South as a region.
- Consistently promotes, supports, works, and acts in a manner that advances the Denver South mission, goals, and values.
Supervisory Duties:
- Directly manages the Operations Specialist and the Events and Administrative Specialist and indirectly manages other team members as assigned by leadership in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work including goal and direction setting, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Primary liaison to outside vendors/organizations including accountancy, financial audit, banking, IT, and professional employer organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of the policies, goals, and procedures related to accounting and finance. Including significant experience with budgeting, financial reporting, financial projections, audits, and purchasing.
- Must have demonstrated skills related to organizational leadership and director-level supervision.
- Able to write financial, human resources and safety policies, procedures, and goals for organization.
- Able to learn and adapt in a wide variety of organizational contexts. Interested in learning and in working in a variety of distinct organizational/regional domains as directed by the President/CEO.
- Able to gain a thorough understanding of the organization’s various functions to ensure operations enhance organizational productivity. Must be able to provide flex capacity for program-related initiatives when needed.
- Able to communicate knowledgeably, effectively, professionally, and tactfully with a variety of audiences.
- Must have relationship building skills that inspire confidence, trust, collaboration, and respect with stakeholders, partners, and contractors/vendors.
- Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Education:
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in finance and operations is required; experience as a CPA is preferred. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with significant supervisory and management experience; they are well organized and are accustomed to operating with a high level of independence and discretion.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.

- Frequent local travel on behalf of the organization is required.

- Ability to hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Physical effort generally not required; however, light physical effort may be required by moving and positioning objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and / or 10 pounds frequently.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $150,000 – $175,000 annually plus eligible for performance bonuses.
Expected Work Week: 40 hours per week.
