Description

This 1.0 FTE Program Director of Strategic Partnerships reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Development and Strategy and is critical in advancing research partnerships and collaborations. This role identifies and cultivates strategic partnerships with external organizations (e.g. federal agencies, industry partners, other academic institutions) and internal stakeholders (e.g. Research investigators/teams, department chairs, innovation and philanthropy offices) to enhance the university's research and scientific impact. This role oversees the planning and execution of high-impact events to promote research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnership and Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with faculty and researchers to assess partnership opportunities aligned with the university's research priorities.
  • Build internal relationships and collaborate closely with schools/college, institutes and centers across the university to leverage resources and maximize research impact.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, fostering strong relationships and facilitating research collaboration opportunities.
  • Represent the university at conferences, meetings and networking events to promote research capabilities and explore potential partnerships.

Engagement Planning and Execution

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive events strategy to highlight research achievements, facilitate knowledge exchange and engage stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning and execution of major research-related events, such as symposiums, conferences, workshops and seminars.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless event logistics, including venue selection, agenda development, speaker coordination and marketing efforts.
  • Collaboration with communication teams across campus and ensure a comprehensive and coordinated communication plan that highlights research partnerships and engagement activities.

Key Performance Metrics and Data Monitoring

  • Monitor CU Anschutz funding portfolio and identify areas for strategic research growth through collaborations and partnerships.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, funding opportunities and regulatory developments relevant to strategic partnerships.
  • Designs cascading goal setting and strategic plans that ensure alignment with the federal funding landscape.
  • Develops effective approaches to identify, track, and report metrics that illuminate progress toward goals and build organizational synergy.

Work Location:

 

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1 day per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • The position requires at least four years of extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience, including direct responsibility for and proven track record of successfully planning, establishing and managing strategic partnership portfolio, with experience in relationship management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with project management of multiple initiatives simultaneously

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in science, public administration, business administration, public health, or related field.
  • Experience with CU Anschutz Medical Campus research initiatives.
  • Experience with extramural federal, foundation, and industry research landscape.

  • Ability to use various computer systems and software applications.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain effective lines of communication with other areas/departments/sponsors.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver high-quality results.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $78,831 – $100,273

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
