FUNCTION DESCRIPTION:

The Copywriter & Content Strategist will be responsible for creating compelling, engaging and goal-driven content across various platforms, including emails, newsletters, social media, blogs and member communications. This role blends creative storytelling with content strategy to support brand awareness, drive member engagement and advance organizational goals. It requires the ability to translate complex financial topics into approachable, action-oriented messaging while ensuring alignment with brand voice and strategic priorities.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to:       Marketing Strategy Manager

Supervises:      None

Contacts:         Interacts with internal staff, managers, and executives. External organizations and community organizations. May include occasional or incidental interactions with auditors, examiners, vendors, suppliers, service providers, and other financial institutions including credit union partners.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education:     Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:     3-5 years of professional copywriting and content creation experience, preferably in the financial services industry.

Skills: 

  • Understanding of the basic principles of marketing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including copywriting, proofreading, and editing).
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and engaging copy for various platforms.
  • Creative and innovative thinker.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms.
  • Familiarity with email marketing best practices (e.g. list segmentation, A/B testing, personalization, optimization)
  • Understanding of email deliverability, CAN-SPAM and Colorado Privacy Act compliance
  • Ability to interpret email performance data and translate insights into actionable improvements
  • Proven time management skills, handle short deadlines, and complete all tasks in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ability to handle unplanned changes and make spur-of-the­ moment decisions.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, online forums, and community building tools.
  • Ability to analyze social media metrics to shape and optimize the content strategy
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive customer topics.
  • Knowledge of the credit union industry is a plus.
  • Graphic design experience a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop engaging and informative copy for email marketing campaigns, social media posts, blog articles, website content, and other marketing materials.
  2. Craft compelling narratives that highlight the benefits of Bellco products and services, while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  3. Write scripts for audio advertising including OTT, Radio spots, Broadcast tv and streaming/podcasts.
  4. Create content that aligns with marketing strategies and drives member engagement.
  5. Write content that is SEO friendly to improve online visibility.
  6. Write and optimize email campaigns to promote products, services, and events.
  7. Develop personalized email content that resonates with different member segments.
  8. Analyze email campaign performance, provide reporting, and make recommendations for improvement.
  9. Research and write informative and engaging blog articles on financial topics relevant to our members.
  10. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and clarity of content.
  11. Proofread and edit all member communications, including newsletters, brochures, and website content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  12. Develop and execute social media content calendars, ensuring consistent and engaging posts across various platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  13. Promote blog content through social media and other channels.
  14. Monitor social media trends and adapt content strategies to maximize impact.
  15. Analyze social media performance, provide reporting, and make recommendations for improvement.
  16. Maintain a high level of attention to detail and adhere to brand style guidelines.
  17. Ensure all content is compliant with regulatory requirements.
  18. Collaborate with marketing team members, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to develop and execute content strategies.
  19. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
  20. Maintain a strong understanding of credit union products and services

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office environment

In order to meet the financial service needs of our members, this position may necessitate changes in hours or location in order to assist with marketing/branch events and with social media monitoring and responses.  This will require some evening and weekend hours.

Physical ability to carry 30lbs, load/unload boxes and materials as necessary.

Bellco requires all employees that drive their personal or a company vehicle in the routine performance of their jobs to have a valid driver's license.  They must provide proof of valid insurance.

In addition to base compensation, Bellco Credit Union offers bonuses for the following roles:
Non-exempt branch roles may earn monthly bonuses for meeting production goals and quarterly bonuses for meeting team goals. 
Exempt branch roles may earn quarterly bonuses for production and team goals. 
Exempt non-branch management roles may be eligible for an annual managerial bonus. 
Non-branch non-management roles may be eligible for on-the-spot bonuses for extraordinary performance.
