Summary:

The Communications Content and Engagement Specialist is responsible for helping to gather, plan, create, distribute, promote, and evaluate engagements with stakeholders that advance the mission and improve and preserve the positive image of the Boulder Valley School District. They support the execution of the editorial and marketing efforts of the Communication team by identifying, cultivating and managing stories, ideas and events for the Communications team; conducting research to determine audience needs and preferences; creating and distributing multimedia materials; working with school and department teams to help meet key communications and marketing needs; and gathering, monitoring and accessing data to determine effectiveness of efforts, with an eye towards continuous improvement.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the gathering, initial appraisal, management, and assignment of editorial opportunities, including but not limited to story ideas, events, and other information from departments, schools, and partners. Prepares the event calendar and manages editorial assignments. Coordinates daily coverage.
  • Develop and produce multimedia content for high-impact campaigns, including articles, web content, videos, graphics, marketing materials, and emerging content formats to engage diverse audiences. 
  • Responsible for the promotion and coverage of district events, including creating the monthly BVSD Events Guide newsletter for parents and staff.
  • Lead social media avenues, including district Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube pages. Monitors social media and provides timely responses to community questions and concerns. Supports schools and departments with social media usage, campaigns, and consultation. Responsible for paid social media advertising. 
  • Serve as a rotating member of Standard Response Protocol (SRP) team. Responsible for monitoring and responding to district-level events and providing communication support. Monitor social media and assist with crisis events as needed.
  • Lead professional development and training for school-based content managers and district staff to ensure a consistent, high-quality brand presence across all platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Complete and submitted BVSD online application
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or other related field. 
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in communications, marketing, digital content management, community engagement, or public relations.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Proficient with Google apps, Adobe suite, web tools, analytics, and new media platforms.
  • Capable of working effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Excellent reporting, writing, and editing skills; attention to detail is essential. Ability to meet deadlines is essential.
  • Must be able to repurpose content for multiple platforms and for various audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in video production and editing in Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent. Familiar with AP style.
  • Executive capacity. Ability to consider complex situations and politics and to make decisions with limited supervision.
  • Evidence of organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to short-notice requests and manage multiple priorities.
  • Occasionally requires attendance at school and district events after hours and weekends.

Salary Information: 

Salary Range 3: $71,374.00 – $107,060.00

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
