The Executive Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging reports to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VP of DEI) and plays a pivotal role in ensuring programming and engagement activities supported by the DEI Division center equity, inclusion and belonging.

OVERVIEW OF CCA  

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging reports to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VP of DEI) and plays a pivotal role in ensuring programming and engagement activities supported by the DEI Division center equity, inclusion and belonging. This position works closely with the VP of DEI to strategize and support the institutional operationalization of DEI campus-wide efforts and implementing the DEI Strategic Master Plan by tracking progress of DEI-related goals, assisting in assessment, and program evaluation; fostering collaborative teams of campus and community members; assisting in the advancement of Achieving the Dream efforts; and implementing programs, events and training aimed to create a climate that is inclusive, values lived experiences, respects identities and encourages belonging and success. 

Additionally, this role collaborates with the VP of DEI on the operations and direction of DEI-related institution-wide councils and taskforces and identity-related Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) as needed. Additionally, this position provides oversight and direction of the newly formed CCA Cultural Center, and supervision oversight of DEI Division Programs to include Trio Student Support Services (TRIO SSS), TRIO Student Support Services English Second Language (TRIO ESL), and Office of Disability and Equity (ODE).
 
The Executive Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging is eligible for some flexible workspace arrangements with opportunities for in-person and remote work. At CCA, we believe in fostering a collaborative work environment that leverages both virtual and in-person interactions to achieve our goals effectively.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
Leadership/Supervision & Advocacy

  • Leads the visioning and the ongoing development of the Cultural Center and the Cultural Center Programs.
  • Provides supervision and performance management for Cultural Center Personnel, and Directors of DEI Division Programs: Trio SSS, TRIO ESL, ODE and any other related programs that are created in alignment with the DEI Mission, Vision.
  • In alignment with VP of DEI, lead DEI-related project execution, overseeing tasks, ensuring adherence to timelines, and project progression.
  • Actively build relationships with key internal and external individuals, groups, and relevant community organizations.
  • Co-lead identity-related task forces as appropriate in conjunction with the VP of DEI.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications to promote DEI-related efforts and ensure web, social media and communication meets ADA Accessibility/WCAG AAA Standards.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to support Employee Resource Groups.
  • Disability services
  • Present DEI-related efforts at regional and national conferences.
  • Serve as proxy in the absence of the VP of DEI as needed.

Complaint and Conflict Resolution

  • Assist VP of DEI in the development of complaint and conflict resolution process related to issues of bias and discrimination.
  • Conduct investigations related to bias and discrimination as needed. 

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Gather, collect, and track data, and conduct assessment of training outcomes, programming, and activities for effectiveness.
  • Track progression of projects and goals. 
  • Establish intentional Learning Outcomes, and conduct reporting of co-curricular programming.
  • Assist VPDEI in implementing campus climate assessments, gathering information and data, and producing DEI-related reports.

Programming, Training & Development
Provide DEI college-wide events, education and programming for students, and employees to promote dialogue about equity and inclusion, access, and build cultural competency skills:

  • Develop and implement efforts that promote understanding of the impact of bias, and micro-aggressions. 
  • In collaboration with the ODE Director create/implement training around the ADA and assist with advocating for students with disabilities in compliance with ADA/504 responsibilities
  • Provide oversight of the Assistant Director to provide Allyship training to include: UndocuAlly training, Safe Zone Training and Green Zone Training.
  • Partner across the college to implement DEI-related training, Cultural programming, events and co-curricular programming.
  • Conduct engagement programs and events in, in-person and virtual modalities.

Provide oversight of Cultural Center budget, approve and track purchasing in compliance with state, federal, CCA and the Colorado Community College system purchasing rules. 
 
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Masters degree from an accredited institution in higher education and student affairs, counseling, public administration, sociology, social justice, Ethnic Studies, Women & Gender studies, or other closely related fields 
    1. (Masters degree substitution: Bachelors degree in related fields and four years of experience implementing DEI-related programs or training or support services.)
  • Experience working in educational settings with diverse populations of students and colleagues.
  • Experience developing programming, events and/or support services for diverse populations.
  • Experience providing supervision and performance management over staff.
  • Record of budget management.
  • Experience conducting DEI-related training or DEI-related presentations.
  • Experience providing efforts to encourage educational access of diverse learners.
  • Knowledge/Training and practice incorporating services in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws pertaining to persons with disabilities

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Understanding of DEI Theory and frameworks in order to implement best practices.
  • Understanding of campus climate and the factors that impact it.
  • Knowledge and experience putting in to practice efforts that encourage diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, Inclusive Excellence, and/or culturally responsive practices.
  • Experience working in a Community College environment.
  • Experience overseeing grant programs and understanding the efforts needed to remain grant compliant.
  • Ability to working in compliance with laws, regulations and guidelines related to diversity, inclusion and nondiscrimination in higher education, including Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, Clery Act, ADEA, ADA,VEVRA, EO 11246 and Section 504
  • Understanding and/or experience gathering data and conducting climate assessment and program evaluation.
  • Experience developing/ implementing key performance indicators and student learning outcomes.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and assessing co-curricular activities.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating trainings to deepen skills and knowledge on the principles of equity, inclusion, diversity, belonging, social justice. 
  • Experience working at a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), or a Minority-Serving Institution (MSI).
  • Experience working at an Achieving the Dream School.
  • Adept at using technology to engage in in-person and hybrid modalities.

Salary Range:  Anticipated starting salary range is $80,000.00-$90,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
