Purpose of Position– Imagine! is creating a world of opportunities for all abilities and seeks an individual contributor for our Public Relations and Communications functions with demonstrated experience leading communications strategy for a mission-driven organization. This position will work closely with Imagine! leadership to develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to advance the mission and vision of Imagine!. The ideal candidate will raise awareness of our organization and introduce our services to a wider audience, sharing our story with funders, businesses, elected officials, families, the medical community, current and potential employees, and the public. The Manager of Public Relations and Communications will create and maintain connections and work with different internal stakeholders to develop and execute exceptional communication strategies and internal communications to staff, board members and vendors.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a fully coordinated internal and external marketing, communications, and public relations strategy to include identification of target audiences and tailored approaches; research; products and services; corporate image and Internet-related communications.
  • Serves as the public relations advisor to the CEO, Imagine! staff and other executive leadership.
  • Oversees engagement of marketing, communications, and public relations for stakeholders.
  • Creates content for and coordinates all media-related activities, including contact with members of the media.
  • Coordinates the development and maintenance of crisis communication, including the crisis communication planning with executive leadership.
  • Oversees, maintains, and enforces consistent communication and graphic standards for all internal and external communications, including the web site, social media and other electronic means.
  • Writes, produces, promotes and distributes all informational and marketing publications, ensuring that all materials are prepared in such a manner as to have maximum success with our various constituencies, to include: social media; newsletters; links on the website; annual reports; brochures; biographical articles on Imagine! staff, consumers, families, board members, and foundation board members; all other public facing informational pieces.
  • Coordinates all print and electronic media opportunities and activities, including press releases.
  • Offers assistance to members of the media, researchers, and other organizations conducting work in the field of cognitive disabilities.
  • Creates the Imagine! external newsletters by developing articles regarding Imagine! programs and activities and developments affecting services provided to our consumers.
  • Evaluates and monitors potential publishing and electronic-communication opportunities.
  • Provides support to the leadership team, Imagine! departments, and other select committees as necessary.
  • Coordinates any subcontracted communications/marketing services.

Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Demonstrated skills in marketing, public relations, and publication production.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels.
  • Skill and ability in public speaking.
  • Effective and creative negotiator and problem solver.
  • Ability to work effectively with various technology including word processing software, internet-based databases, etc.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet Imagine! driving requirements.
  • This position requires regular use of a personal vehicle with liability insurance that meets Imagine! standards.
  • This position requires regular use of a personal mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.

Training/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communication, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree highly preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years’ related experience required.

Working Environment/Physical Activities

  • Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment.
