SUMMARY
The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. We endeavor to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and business services responsibilities. This role may also assist with annual budgets and audits, plus operational and administrative tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end operational support to the Accounting/Finance Department
- Review and record daily bank activity
- Review and process monthly expense reports
- Manage the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with the Center’s policies and procedures
- Prepare customer invoices and record customer payments
- Review support related to federal grant compliance and assist in monthly drawdown process
- Support month and quarter end processes including but not limited to accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of other journal entries
- Support general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals, and prepaid expenses
- Provide support for the annual audit
- Assist in developing financial reports such as departmental reports, financial statements, and interim grant financial reporting as needed
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be able to demonstrate attention to detail and good-record-keeping
- Excellent communications skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
- Minimum 2-4 years' experience in a staff accounting role, Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Sage Intacct, or similar accounting software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting and requirements
- Experience using Concur or similar travel software, Experience with managing accounting for restricted and non-restricted funds
WORK REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT
- Standard office equipment provided
- Office environment in multi-story, dog-friendly building
- Some night and weekend work hours
- Some overnight travel required
WORK LOCATION – The Center's headquarters in Denver, CO, or could be a hybrid position, in the Center's discretion.
This is a full-time, exempt position. The starting salary range for this position is $64,244 – $69,870/year and will be commensurate with background and experience.
